You might not return to your “old weight” after healing your relationship with food…and that’s okay.

Because healing isn’t about going backwards. It’s about moving forward into freedom, peace, and trust with your body.

Your body may change, your weight may shift, and that can feel scary in a world that glorifies “before and afters.” But the truth is: the most powerful transformation isn’t visible in a mirror.

It’s in the way you can sit down to a meal without guilt.

It’s in the way you say yes to life instead of obsessing over calories.

It’s in the way you finally feel safe inside your own skin. 💛

Letting go of chasing an “old version” of yourself creates space to embrace who you are now — stronger, wiser, and so much freer. ✨

Read that again.

You’re going to miss birthdays, late-night ice cream runs, spontaneous road trips, dancing without overthinking, saying yes to plans, laughing without worrying how your body looks…
All because you’re chasing a number that will never love you back.

That 10% isn’t worth your memories.

It’s not worth the relationships, the joy, the actual life you keep putting on hold until you’re “enough.”

You already are.

One day, you’re going to wish you lived in the body you were so desperate to shrink.

Let’s not wait for that day.

In eating disorder recovery, grief isn’t always obvious.

It doesn’t always show up as tears or words. Sometimes it’s a deep ache. A quiet missing.

A discomfort that feels impossible to name.
You might grieve the control your eating disorder gave you. The structure, the rules, the illusion of safety. You might grieve the numbness that kept you from feeling pain.

You might even grieve the version of you who survived through it.

This grief doesn’t mean you’re not committed to recovery. It doesn’t mean you’re going backwards. It means you’re healing.

Letting go of an eating disorder—especially when it helped you survive trauma—is not just a process of unlearning. It’s a process of loss. And that loss deserves tenderness, not shame.

It’s okay to feel both relief and grief. It’s okay to miss what also harmed you. Healing is layered, and grief is part of the work.

You don’t have to go through it alone.

Everyone sees the tip of the iceberg—food, body image, numbers, weight.

But underneath?

It’s rarely about food at all.

What’s hidden below the surface often feels heavier:
✨ Trauma
✨ Perfectionism
✨ Fear of rejection
✨ Numbness
✨ Shame
✨ Loneliness
✨ Grief
Eating disorders aren’t just about what you’re doing—they’re about why.

Recovery isn’t about fixing the surface. It’s about slowly, bravely exploring what’s underneath—at your own pace, with support.

You’re allowed to feel everything that lives below the surface.

Body image struggles are rarely just about wanting to look a certain way or hit a specific number.

A lot of the time, it’s what’s underneath that keeps us stuck.

Sometimes, focusing on our body feels like something we can control when everything else feels overwhelming. Sometimes it’s a way to chase safety, soothe anxiety, or avoid feelings that feel too big to name. It makes sense—your brain and body are trying to protect you in the only way they know how right now.

That’s why body image work isn’t just about “loving your body” or liking what you see in the mirror. It’s about learning to gently ask,
“What’s really going on underneath this body spiral?”
“What do I need right now?”

If you’ve been caught in those thoughts lately, here are 7 questions for you to sit with this week 💕🫶

pssssst hey you!!!! has your body been trying to tell you it’s hungry in ways that don’t involve a growling stomach?

When struggling with restrictive eating, hunger can be quiet, confusing, or show up in totally unexpected ways. You might feel tired, foggy, emotional, or just… off. And it can be so easy to miss those signals — especially if you’ve been taught not to trust them.

Here is a reminder that:
💛 You don’t have to wait until you’re “really hungry” to eat.
💛 Hunger wont always look like it used to before restrictive eating/disordered eating/an ED
💛 Your needs are real — and you’re not making it up.

If you’ve ever thought “I can’t possibly be hungry again,” this one’s for you. 🤍

In case you needed a reminder!!!! ⬇️⬇️

BMI is BS. Here’s why:
It’s lazy. It’s outdated. And it was never meant to define your health or your worth.

📉 A French mathematician invented it in the 1830s.
🧬 It ignores muscle, genetics, hormones, race, and reality.
🚨 It pathologizes healthy people and misses sick ones.
🧠 And worst of all? It’s used to deny people care, shame bodies, and justify disordered behaviors—in the name of “health.” 😫😫

BMI isn’t science. It’s a system.
And it’s one we’re allowed to reject.

You deserve actual care, not weight-based judgment.

Eating disorders often speak in coded language. Protective, guarded, afraid.❌🙅‍♀️

On the surface, it sounds like food talk.

But underneath? It’s about fear of abandonment. Rejection. Being “too much” or “not enough.”

What we hear as relational ED dietitians is the story you’ve carried for a long time, maybe since childhood:

That in order to be safe or loved, you had to be smaller, quieter, less needy.

Your words deserve to be heard with context and compassion, not judgment. And your pain doesn’t make you too much. It makes you human.

Pull up a chair, let’s chit chat!!! 💁‍♀️🪑

Let’s talk about food neutrality 💛

Ever feel like certain foods are “bad” and others are “good”? Like eating a salad makes you feel accomplished, but eating a cookie comes with guilt? That’s where food neutrality comes in.

Food neutrality means letting go of the idea that foods have moral value. It doesn’t mean ignoring nutrition!!!!!! (Despite popular belief), it just means an apple and a brownie can both have a place on your plate without making you feel like a “good” or “bad” person.

It helps take the pressure off and makes room for flexibility, satisfaction, and self-trust. You can honor your health and your taste preferences and cravings and just generally what sounds satisfying!. You can enjoy food without judgment.

The goal isn’t perfection — it’s peace 💕

Parties and celebrations are supposed to be fun, right???? But for someone with an eating disorder, these moments can actually feel really tough and stressful.😩

When usual routines get thrown off, food is everywhere, and conversations about dieting or bodies start, it can bring up a lot of worry and fear.

If you know someone struggling with an ED, just being there — without judgment or pressure — can mean the world. You don’t have to fix anything or say the perfect thing. Sometimes, sitting quietly, listening, or just checking in afterward can make a huge difference.

Swipe to learn why celebrations can feel so hard and how you can help make them a little easier and safer. 💕💕💕
