For Casey Benchimol, MSN, CRNP, WHNP-BC, AGPCNP-C, nursing’s impact comes from combining clinical expertise with trust, connection, and a deep understanding of the communities nurses serve. A dual-certified nurse practitioner and full-time lecturer at Penn Nursing, Casey teaches across the Women’s Health/Gender-Related NP, Nurse Midwifery, and Adult Gerontology Primary Care NP programs. Their work bridges education and clinical practice, with a focus on inclusive, trauma-informed care, LGBTQIA+ health, sexual and reproductive health, and preparing the next generation of advanced practice nurses to advance health equity.

New scholarship from the next generation of nurse scientists.

We’re excited to celebrate the release of Volume 12 of the Journal of Nursing Doctoral Students Scholarship (JNDSS), featuring new scholarly contributions from nursing doctoral students here at Penn Nursing and across the United States.

Created to elevate doctoral student scholarship and contribute to the advancement of nursing science, JNDSS provides an important platform for emerging nurse scholars to share their research, perspectives, and ideas with the field.

Congratulations to the student authors, editors, and contributors behind this latest volume!

During our Fall 2026 Board of Advisors meeting, Board members heard firsthand from Penn Nursing’s Learning Assistants and Learning Mentors about the impact of peer support on the student learning experience.

The panel was moderated by Board of Advisors member Jill Fallows Macaluso, Esq., Nu’98, who led a meaningful conversation about how these initiatives are supporting students academically while fostering mentorship, leadership, and collaboration.

The latest issue of Penn Nursing Magazine takes a closer look at the Learning Assistants initiative, and the impact of Madonna Stack-Barker, Nu'68, and Macaluso, whose philanthropic support is helping the program grow and reach more students.
