September again. 🎗️💛

Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Before cancer touched our lives, I knew childhood cancer existed. I cared. I felt for the families living through it.

But I didn’t really know.

I didn’t know the fear of waiting for scans, numbers, results, and answers. I didn’t know how quickly hospitals and medical language could become everyday life—or just how low the lows could be.

But I also didn’t know how much beauty we would find here.

We’ve met families and advocates who understand without needing words. We’ve watched people love our child in extraordinary ways. We’ve experienced incredible kindness, laughed when we didn’t think we could, and learned to celebrate things we once considered ordinary.

Cancer has shown us some of the worst parts of life—and, right alongside them, some of the very best parts of humanity.

I would give anything for our family never to have needed this community. But I will forever be grateful for the people this journey brought into our lives.

So this September, I’ll keep sharing. But I hope you’ll share, too.

It can’t only be cancer families talking about childhood cancer. We need you.

You don’t have to know a child with cancer to care. Share the posts. Learn the statistics. Wear the gold. Support the organizations doing the work. Say these children’s names. Listen to their families. Help people pay attention.

Cancer families are already carrying so much. We’ll keep telling our stories because our children are worth it—but we shouldn’t have to carry the responsibility of making the world care, too.

This September, please help us carry the message.

Not because childhood cancer has happened to your family.

But because it happens to children.

And that should be enough. 💛

Thank you Cara, for these words 🥰❤️🎗️🙌🏼

The boys are going to host a lemonade stand on our corner on 8/23 from 12-3pm. We hope you’ll come by for some drinks and treats!

If you cannot make it, we are trying to raise money for one of our favorite charities, Kisses for Kyle, that has been a huge part of Brody’s journey and makes navigating the cancer journey a bit more enjoyable for all of us. The founder is a literal angel on earth and pays tribute to her late son, Kyle, by helping families experience joy. It’s the least we can do to give back to ensure other families get the benefit of the foundation!

This week marked a year since Brody rang the bell and boy, was it one for the books. Monday kicked off our first ED experience that was a “normal toddler” related visit that required Brody to get 4 stitches in his ear. He was a trooper and a blue ice pop was the saving grace to wrap up our 6 hour ordeal.

We ended it at the 30th annual CHOP Fetal Family Reunion where we get to hang with all the other babes and families who gave birth in the SDU and vary in medical dx and complexity.

We scan on June 30/July 1 and Brody will move onto 6 month scan intervals rather than every 3.

We are loving the norm that we have settled into and the personality our sweet boy has also grown into 💛🙌🏼🎗️.

We had an incredible day at the I ❤️ CHOP walk, run and virtual challenge! Because of you all, we raised over $10k for research and families within oncology, pulmonary and general surgery!

We made new friends, saw a lot of our other medical families we know and love and were surrounded by our village.

6abc Action News featured a few snippets from our interview with Nick Iadonisi, who was a trooper and walked the whole 3k with us! Full clip below.

Hundreds got their steps in at FDR Park to support Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
