25 MILLION MEALS. π Yesterday, MANNA celebrated the preparation and delivery of our 25 millionth medically tailored meal β a milestone that represents more than 36 years of nourishing individuals living with serious illnesses across Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey.
Joined by MANNA CEO Sue Daugherty, staff, volunteers, community partners, and supporters, we proudly celebrated this milestone alongside Philadelphia Department of Public Health Commissioner Dr. Palak Raval-Nelson, PhD, MPH and representatives from Councilmember Rue Landau's office, who presented a City Council citation recognizing the impact of medically tailored meals on individual and community health.
This is more than a number. It represents 25 million acts of care. Twenty-five million opportunities for someone facing illness to receive the nourishment they need to heal, manage their health, and live with dignity.
Founded during the HIV/AIDS epidemic by seven members of First Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, MANNA began as a simple act of compassion for neighbors who were sick, isolated, and too often forgotten. Today, that same mission continues to guide everything we do.
As we celebrate this achievement during Pride Month, we honor the LGBTQIA+ community whose courage, advocacy, and resilience helped shape MANNA's history and our commitment to compassionate, equitable care.
We are grateful to our clients, volunteers, staff, healthcare partners, donors, and supporters who helped make this milestone possible. Here's to the next 25 million meals!π
