🌿 HERBS A–Z: A is for Agrimony
Welcome to Herbs A–Z, a new Lune Herbals series where we’ll explore herbs one letter at a time. From traditional uses and health benefits to preparations, plant properties, and the ways different cultures have worked with these plants, we’re going to get to know our herbs a little better. 🌿
First up: Agrimony (Agrimonia eupatoria)
Agrimony is traditionally known as an astringent herb and has been used in herbalism for digestive support, stomach upset, sore throat, and as a gentle tonic for various systems of the body. It has also been traditionally used as a calming herb and for supporting the heart and gallbladder. Another powerful use of this herb is for healing wounds because it staunches bleeding and can encourage clot formation 🩸
Some historical herbal traditions have also explored agrimony in connection with blood sugar and other chronic conditions such as diabetes, cancer, and tuberculosis.
There’s so much to learn about even the plants we may not hear about every day, and I’m excited to share what I’m learning as we move through the alphabet. 💚
Want to explore Agrimony for yourself? You can find it (and me!) at Green Goddess House of Herbs. I’m there every Friday, so come say hey and explore the shop. Green Goddess House Of Herbs
