What Is a Mother⦠and What Happens When She Feels Unseen
A mother is a giver of lifeā
not just in the way she carries a child,
but in the way she carries the whole world on her shoulders.
She is the steady hand, the safe place, the one who remembers every detail no one else does.
She gives endlessly, often without recognition.
But behind closed doors, there may be a different story.
In the bathroom she locks just to breatheā¦
In the car where her tears may fall in silenceā¦
She wonders, āDoes anyone see me? Or just what I do?ā
Because when a mother feels unseen, she doesnāt explodeā
she withdraws.
She grows quiet.
Intimacy fades.
The sparkle in her eyes dims.
Not out of spite, but from slowly fading into the background of her own life.
She doesnāt want a parade.
She just wants to be noticedānot as the helper, the doer, the fixerā
but as her. The woman underneath it all.
Because a mother may be strong,
but she should never have to be invisible to prove it.
But sheās achingāachingāto be seen.
Seen as the one who still dreams, still feels, still wants to be chosenāoutside of the title of āMom.ā
What she needs is simple.
How are you really? What will lighten your load? Are you ok? Let me take care of this for you.
Because a mother may be strong, but she shouldnāt have to be invisible to prove it.
Happy Motherās Day mamaās! And to those that may feel unseen and unappreciated today. I see you. ā¤ļø
P.S. Thatās not me today. But I was once there and I know.
