Your history is not a diagnosis. It is context.
Two people can walk in with the same symptoms and the same score on the same questionnaire and need very different care. The difference is usually not in the symptoms. It is in the story underneath them.
The research is blunt about this. In a study of 454 adults with hard-to-treat depression, people with three or more difficult childhood experiences had more severe symptoms and worse outcomes. That does not mean your past decides your future. It means it belongs in the plan.
At Better Place Now we ask about it the way it should be asked: in conversation, not with a checklist, and never as a label on your chart. How much your history is shaping what you feel today, and what to do about it, is part of what the full hour is for.
