The Living Path to Wholeness Welcome to our Living Medicine community. Living Medicine is life itself. But, there is much more to it than that.

If you believe that healthcare should be about caring for individuals and should focus on life and healing, then please join us as we initiate a new paradigm shift in medicine from focusing on disease to that of embracing life and living. For so long, much of medicine has focused on the absence of disease to define health. True healing occurs when we embrace life and take responsibility for our ow

n health. Living Medicine holds illness as only one facet of life and it offers a doorway to healing on many levels, including the possibility of growth. With Living Medicine, no patient is ever reduced to a disease, but is acknowledged as a whole being, in spite of any disease. Our new Living Medicine model recognizes the wholeness of life rather than the absence of disease. The Foundation for Living Medicine, formerly The Gladys Taylor McGarey Medical Foundation, was founded by Dr. Gladys McGarey. Dr. Gladys, as she is affectionately known, is board certified in Holistic and Integrated Medicine and has held a family practice for more than 60 years. She is known as the Mother of Holistic Medicine where she has tirelessly pioneered work in holistic medicine, natural birthing, and the physician-patient partnership. She was one of the original framers of the Holistic medicine concept and the co-founder of the American Holistic Medical Association. Dr. Gladys was the first to utilize acupuncture in the U.S. and trained other physicians how to use it.
