Friday Pause 🤍

One of the greatest gifts mindfulness has given me is the ability to slow down enough to truly feel a moment while I’m in it.

Yesterday, as I celebrated another birthday, I found myself aware throughout the day of just how much love, connection, and beauty exists in my life….the gifts in the quiet meaningful moments that are so easy to rush past.

Last night, before blowing out this candle, I paused for just a moment and let myself really feel the love, the connection, the gratitude, and the simple gift of being here for another year.

Sometimes the practice is simply this: pausing long enough to let life touch your heart while it’s happening. 🩵

This weekend left me reflecting on something we don’t talk about very often… how it can sometimes be difficult to truly receive.

To receive support.
Encouragement.
Kindness.
Connection.
Joy.

Often we can be used to being the ones holding everything together so that we might rush right past the moments that are trying to nourish us.

Mindfulness invites us to pause long enough to let those moments land.

This week, maybe the practice is simply noticing what is already being offered to you… and allowing yourself to receive it. 🩵

A huge thank you to everyone for hosting such lovely event today.

I had the opportunity to share pieces of my journey, speak about mindfulness and healing, lead a short breath meditation, and sign copies of my book When Illness Becomes the Teacher.

There’s something deeply moving about seeing a story that once lived quietly inside of you begin to connect with others.

So grateful for everyone who came and for the beautiful conversations shared today.

So this is what creating an audiobook looks like over here as a self-published author…..welcome to my very glamorous makeshift recording studio. 🎤

For someone who does not consider herself technically savvy, I’m actually feeling pretty proud of this little setup… even if there may have been a few leftover screws involved in the process. 😉

But in all seriousness, this feels really special.

I’ve officially begun recording the audio version of When Illness Becomes the Teacher, and my hope is to have it available by the end of the summer. 🩵

There’s something deeply personal about reading these words out loud and sharing this story in my own voice. I truly can’t wait for you to hear it.

There are moments when mindfulness doesn’t look like productivity, movement, or showing up with energy.

Sometimes it looks like canceling plans.
Closing the laptop.
Getting back into bed.
Listening when the body whispers, “Not today.”

This week I’ve been reminded again that rest is not weakness.
Rest is communication.
Rest is care.
Rest is wisdom.

So if your body has been asking for a pause lately, maybe today is your reminder that you are allowed to honor that without guilt.

Sometimes healing begins the moment we stop fighting what we need.

FRIDAY PAUSE ✨
What would it look like to create even one small corner of support for yourself this week

Sometimes the most supportive thing we can do for ourselves is make rest and regulation easy to reach. 🩵

This little corner beside my bed has become one of my favorite places to pause. A soft blanket, pillow and eye pillow, bolster, noise-canceling headphones, and a few practices that help me come back to myself again and again.

Lately I’ve been listening to the Safe and Sound Protocol, practicing Yoga Nidra through Kamini Desai’s IAmYogaNidra and IAmBeing apps, spending time on Insight Timer - moving through Sarah Blondin’s beautiful Coming Home to Yourself series.

What I’ve learned is that creating a small dedicated space matters. When the space is already there waiting for you, it becomes easier to pause first thing in the morning, before sleep, or even for a few quiet moments in the middle of a hard day.

Your nervous system doesn’t always need something elaborate.
Sometimes it simply needs a gentle place to land.
