Ever wondered why kids seem to get ear infections so much more often than adults?
One reason is that their drainage system is still developing.
A young child's Eustachian tube is smaller and more horizontal, which can make it easier for fluid to become trapped during a cold, allergies, or congestion.
As children grow, that pathway usually matures and drainage often improves.
But while they're growing, it's still worth asking why your child keeps getting stuck in the same cycle.
Ask yourself:
• Are they constantly congested?
• Do they mouth breathe or snore?
• Does every cold seem to end with an ear infection?
• Are they sleeping well?
These questions don't replace medical care, but they can help you look beyond the ear and better understand the bigger picture.
The ear may be where the problem shows up.
It may not be where the pattern starts.
