Her birthday was Monday, and while we’re a few days late posting, we’re no less thankful for all she does. From the big things to the countless little things no one sees, she pours her heart into this mission every single day.

“What’s your favorite meal?”

It’s a simple question, but when someone takes the time to make it for you, it says, “You matter.”

Today, one of our volunteers lovingly prepared fried fish, fresh bread, and a beautiful salad for one of our guests. She made enough to share with staff, fellow volunteers, and even our oncoming caregiver, filling the house with good food, laughter, and the kind of fellowship that can’t be bought.

Hospice care is about so much more than medical care. It’s about comfort. It’s about dignity. It’s about making sure people feel seen, valued, and loved.

Today, that love looked a lot like fried fish and a seat at the table. ❤️🏡🍽️

Wednesday afternoons just got a little sweeter around here ☀️

The Plainfield Farmers Market is back for the season and we’ll be there every Wednesday from 4 PM to 7 PM all summer long!

If you stop by our booth this year, you’ll still find some of your favorites like our pepper jelly and handmade crafts, but we’ve added a few fun new things too:

🐢 TGT Floor Turtles
🥣 Our new ranch dip mix

One of our favorite parts of the market is simply getting to connect with the people who support our mission so faithfully. Whether you come to shop, browse, or just chat for a minute, we’d love to see you there.

Happy Birthday to Darrell, one of the longtime hearts behind The Gathering Together! 🎉

If you’ve been around our mission for any length of time, chances are you’ve seen Darrell’s handiwork, enjoyed our pepper jelly that he faithfully makes for us, or benefited from one of the many ways he quietly helps keep this place running.

From maintenance projects, to woodworking, to running farmers markets alongside his wife Lois, Darrell has been serving this mission since the very beginning and is always willing to jump in wherever he’s needed.

We’re so thankful for him and all he brings to The Gathering Together.

This weekend was a beautiful reminder of what community truly looks like.

After sharing a simple request to help make Mother’s Day a little brighter for one of our guests, you all showed up in the most incredible way.

Flowers filled her room. Cards arrived one after another. Gifts, treats, plants, hugs, conversations, prayers, and so many moments of kindness walked through our doors all weekend long.

But more than the items themselves, you gave her something deeper: your time, your presence, and the reminder that she matters.

This morning, she spent nearly two hours telling us story after story about the people who stopped by, the conversations she had, and how loved she felt. It is hard to put into words what that meant to her.

Thank you for helping create a Mother’s Day she will never forget.

This is exactly why The Gathering Together exists. 💛

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at The Gathering Together. 💐

Today we honor the mothers, grandmothers, caregivers, and women who care for others with quiet strength, compassion, and faith. We are reminded daily that even the smallest acts of love can bring great comfort and hope.

Thank you for the ways you reflect the heart of Christ through your care for others.

🌷 A Mother’s Day Request 🌷

Tomorrow is Mother’s Day, and we would love to make it a little brighter for one of our guests.

She is still alert, talkative, and able to truly enjoy being celebrated and cared for. This holiday may be a quiet one for her, and we would love to fill her day with small reminders that she is seen and loved.

If anyone feels led to help us bless her, here are a few ideas:
