A little about me: I started this page and am thrilled it is growing ...
My name is Lori Melnitsky. I have been a speech pathologist for over 25 years. This is my dream career and love what I do. I direct All Island Speech and Stuttering Therapy in Plainview, NY. Up until my late 20s I stuttered severely. I could not say my name or order food I loved. Initially I became an accountant to avoid a field involving talking but it wasn’t my chosen path. One of the best decisions I ever made was becoming a speech pathologist. It is surreal because I was emotionally and physically blocked by stuttering and low self confidence. I now help others improve fluency and believe in themselves. That’s why I also became a coach to inspire and motivate others facing challenges.
I am certified in the Lidcombe program for early childhood stuttering, MPI 2 teen and adults stuttering fluency program and developed my own confidence program for teens and adults. I have treated hundreds of people who stutter and also oral motor disorders.
My greatest joy is seeing the inner pain involved with stuttering transform into easier talking and confidence. I love coaching others as well to truly find their inner voice to find peace and clarity.
In addition I am Certfied in Prompt therapy for apraxia , a certified life and empowerment coach and ADHD coach. I am also a Fast ForWord provider for reading and Orton Gillingham Trained for dyslexia.
I speak at organizations and schools on the subjects of stuttering, oral motor, dyslexia and ADHD. I have been an adjunct professor on the subject of stuttering and am a published author. I was a mentor for the TV show Arthur talking about stuttering and featured in Newsday and local TV. I am also a mom of two daughters in their 20s and my dog and BFF Parker. My husband and family have been my foundation and drive for continuing to help others.
Additionally , I am licensed in NY and NJ with Connecticut soon. I offer highly successful online therapy for teens and adults. I also provide therapy in my office for all ages. I coach internationally and domestically via skype or zoom.
