September is National Gum Care Month, and yes, kids’ gums matter too. ❤️

When parents think about dental visits, they usually think about cavities. But healthy gums are a huge part of a healthy smile.

If your child’s gums bleed when brushing, look puffy, feel tender, or if bad breath keeps showing up even with brushing, it may be time for a pediatric dental visit.

Your child’s visit is not just a quick look. It is a chance to catch concerns early, answer your questions, and help your child build healthier habits with support from a team that understands kids.

The tiniest smiles deserve the highest level of care. At Teeth R’ Us, this is what advanced pediatric dentistry looks like: focused, gentle, detail-driven, and completely centered on your child.

Dr. Smith brings board-certified pediatric expertise to every visit, but just as importantly, she brings patience. The kind that helps kids feel safe. The kind that gives parents clear answers. The kind that turns a dental appointment into a moment of trust instead of stress. 🩷

From routine cleanings to more advanced treatment, every detail matters: the pace, the comfort, the explanation, the technology, and the way your child feels in the chair.

Little patients are still people with big feelings. We never forget that.

Smile Club Rule #9: If summer had a mouth, it would need a cleaning ☀️🧼

Let’s be honest: summer is fun, but it is not always gentle on little smiles.

There are popsicles.
Pool snacks.
Late nights.
Sleepovers.
Road trip treats.
Juice boxes.
Camp lunches.
And at least one “wait… did you brush?” moment. 😅

That is why the end of August is the perfect time for a smile reset.

A visit with Dr. Smith is a chance to look for cavities, clean away buildup, check growth and development, talk through habits, and make sure your child’s smile is getting the support it needs.

Summer plaque? Not invited. 🪥✨

School is back, and parents everywhere just got 2% of their brain space back 📚🧠

Now that the backpacks are unpacked, the lunchboxes are in rotation, and the morning routine is slowly finding its rhythm, it’s the perfect time to take care of the appointments that were hard to squeeze in during summer.

We make pediatric dental visits feel easy for busy families and comfortable for kids, whether your child needs a cleaning, a checkup, sealants, a tooth looked at, or a little extra support in the chair.

Think of it as a small reset after the back-to-school rush.

One appointment.
One healthy smile check.
One less thing sitting on the to-do list. 📋

Smile Club Rule #8: If the smile starts acting suspicious, investigate 🕵️‍♀️🦷

Kids do not always say, “Hey, I think something is going on with my tooth.”

Sometimes it sounds more like:
“I don’t want to chew on that side.”
“This food feels weird.”
“My tooth feels funny.”
“Can I have something softer?”
Or suddenly… they are giving closed-mouth smiles in every photo. 👀

Tiny clues can tell us a lot.

A change in chewing, sensitivity, avoiding certain foods, swelling, discoloration, or a tooth that looks different than usual can all be signs that it is time for a dental visit.

Dr. Smith and our team help parents get answers without the panic spiral. We take a look and explain what is happening, what your child may need, and how we can help them feel comfortable through it.

Call 972-597-8878 if something feels off. ✔

We want every visit to feel positive from start to finish, especially for little patients who may feel nervous, excited, curious, or a little bit of everything.

Dr. Smith and our team are here to help your child feel comfortable, celebrated, and proud of their smile. If your kiddo is due for a dental visit, we’d love to make their next appointment feel this fun.

The Tooth Fairy called. She loves a clean little tooth with a good story. 🧚‍♀️🦷✨

National Tooth Fairy Day is the perfect time to celebrate one of childhood’s biggest smile milestones: losing baby teeth.

Tiny as they are, baby teeth have a very important job. They help children chew their favorite foods, practice clear speech, smile with confidence, and save space for the grown-up teeth waiting their turn.

So when a wiggly tooth enters the chat, keep the magic gentle. Encourage your child to wiggle it on their own if it is already loose, but avoid pulling a tooth before it is ready. Keep brushing around baby teeth until they fall out naturally, and let us know if a tooth is painful, damaged, or taking a little too long to make its grand exit.

And if the Tooth Fairy is stopping by soon? A tiny note about brushing, flossing, and taking care of that new grown-up tooth can make the moment even sweeter.

Smile Club Rule #7: Water is the real smile MVP 💧

Plano heat does not play around, and neither do busy kids. Between recess, sports, playground time, after-school activities, and those last big summer moments, kids need hydration for more than energy.

Water helps rinse away food particles, supports saliva production, and gives teeth a break from the sugars and acids found in juice, soda, and flavored drinks. 🥤

A few Smile Club-approved water wins:
• Send your child with a refillable water bottle
• Offer water after snacks and treats
• Choose water more often than sports drinks
• Encourage a few sips after lunch
• Keep water nearby during outdoor play

At Teeth R’ Us Children’s Dentistry, we love a simple habit that does a lot.

And water? She’s booked, busy, and protecting smiles. 😎
