🌙🍄 REISHI vs. MELATONIN — THE SLEEP STUDY YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT
A fascinating new study presented at SLEEP 2026, one of the leading scientific meetings focused on sleep medicine and sleep research, is putting Reishi mushroom in the spotlight. 🍄
Researchers compared Reishi mushroom extract vs. melatonin in 218 adults with chronic insomnia over 8 weeks.
The result? 👀
Participants taking Reishi experienced a greater reduction in insomnia severity than those taking melatonin.
The Reishi group received 980 mg of extract standardized to 6% triterpenes, while the melatonin group received 5 mg nightly.
And while this is only one short-term study and more research is needed, the findings are incredibly promising for the future of Reishi mushroom and sleep health. 🔬🌙
Why is this so interesting?
Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) has been studied for its bioactive compounds, including triterpenes, and researchers are increasingly exploring how medicinal mushrooms may influence sleep quality, relaxation, stress response, nervous system regulation, and overall wellness.

This doesn’t mean Reishi has officially replaced melatonin—or that everyone with insomnia should stop using their current treatment. It means the science surrounding Reishi and sleep is getting VERY interesting.
And this is exactly why we believe in looking beyond the hype and following the research.
The mushroom world is evolving. And Reishi may have a lot more to say about sleep than we once thought. 🍄🌙
