June brings longer days, warmer weather, blooming flowers, and, for many of us, a busier social calendar.

As summer begins, I’ve been thinking about what I would like these months to look and feel like. More time outside is at the top of my list—walking, hiking, biking, and maybe even attending an outdoor concert.

It can be easy for our schedules to fill up quickly, and before we know it, summer is passing by. While gatherings, celebrations, and activities can be wonderful, it is equally important to make space for slowing down and savoring the season.

What would you like your summer days to look like? More importantly, what would you like them to feel like? Is there something you’ve been wanting to do that you haven’t made time for in a while?

Think back to when you were a child. What were your favorite summer activities? For me, it was riding my bike. It made me feel free, adventurous, and fully alive. I grew up in a small town where I could get almost anywhere on two wheels. Those rides gave me a sense of independence and joy that I still remember today.

As the days grow longer and warmer, I’m hoping to rediscover some of that feeling with more bike rides, fresh air, and time spent outdoors. Perhaps this season is an invitation for all of us to reconnect with the simple things that bring us joy.

If you’d like to spend more time practicing yoga in the fresh air this summer, join me for Yoga in the Garden at Bedford Farms, or enjoy my Zoom class from the comfort of your own backyard.

Even at The Yoga Loft, with the doors and windows open and nature all around us, there is a sense of being connected to the outdoors. 🧘‍♀️ 🌳 🚲 👟 ⛰️

The chakra system is an ancient yogic framework that describes seven main energy centers within the body, each connected to different aspects of our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Imagine these chakras as wheels of energy flowing from the base of the spine to the crown of the head.

What I appreciate about the chakra system is that it gently guides us through the core feelings, needs, and experiences we have as human beings. It offers a meaningful way to check in with ourselves and notice where we may need a little more balance or support in our lives. The chakras can serve as a pathway toward becoming more authentic—both inside and out—and help us live with greater awareness, balance, and connection.

It’s that time of year…spring cleaning. I recently donated a stack of books to the library sale, rearranged a few wall hangings, and I’m slowly working through closets. There’s something so satisfying about tending to the inside of our homes before we begin spending more time outside—planting, watering, and welcoming new growth.

It brings to mind the chakras—these subtle wheels of energy within us that also ask for care and attention. When our inner space feels clear and energy is flowing, it becomes easier to focus, to move with intention, and to show up as our most grounded, open selves in the world. Each chakra carries its own quality: the root offers trust and stability, the sacral sparks creativity and passion, the solar plexus builds confidence and strength, the heart opens us to love and compassion, the throat supports truth and expression, the third eye invites intuition and clarity, and the crown connects us to a sense of peace and unity.

Just like our homes, our inner landscape benefits from a gentle clearing now and then—a chance to notice what feels stuck, what’s ready to shift, and what we want to make space for. As we move through this season of renewal, we can tend to both our outer and inner worlds with the same care—clearing, softening, and allowing energy to flow freely.

And from that place, we don’t just step into spring—we embody it.

Where in your life do you crave more openness? What does openness feel like in your body? When do you feel most open and free? What situations make you close off?
