My friend and fellow birth worker is struggling with being "overdue" in her pregnancy, feeling pulled and stretched in the season of waiting on the birth of her baby, feeling anxieties creep in about the birth....
A mutual friend reminded her of Psalm 29:9:
"The voice of the LORD makes the deer give birth and strips the forests bare, and in his temple all cry, “Glory!”
How many times in the bible are sounds mentioned?
In the book of Joshua, the walls of Jericho fall from a shout and the sound of a trumpet.
In Matthew 8, Jesus heals the Centurion's servant with only speaking the words, because of His faith.
As we know, most of us make sounds during labor. These sounds often help our babies move down into the birth canal.
But it is the ultimate sound of God's voice and calling that births something new.
It is the Lord who calls forth our babies from the womb.
Praise Him and His mighty voice. Read Psalm 29 to God, sit at His feet and listen and wait for Him. This tension you are feeling, is a good thing, even when it doesn't feel like it. Use it to draw near to Him and intertwine yourself with the God of the universe.
He will speak "come forth" when the time is right.
