Im an active practicing nurse with a wealth of medical-legal knowledge, a board certification in psychiatric nursing, another one in gerontology, and a criminal justice background.

My dog Gemma has a tennis ball and absolutely no interest in sharing it.

We both bring something to the table.

If your case involves psychiatric records, behavioral health, substance use, elder care, or correctional health, I am the one you want on your team. Not Gemma. She is busy.

Being a lawyer doesn’t mean you have to pretend you’re perfect.

Megan Shore openly shares how being vulnerable about her own experience with panic disorder helped others recognize and talk about what they were experiencing too.

She believes lawyers, like doctors and everyone else, are human—and that embracing that humanity can actually make us better trial lawyers. Understanding our clients, relating to their experiences, and telling their stories in a way others can connect with is at the heart of effective advocacy.

Because if you’re always trying to project an image of perfection, you may be missing the opportunity to truly connect.

What does a lawyer “look like”?

For Megan Shore, the answer is simple: she doesn’t think being a lawyer means having to fit a certain stereotype.

Her approach is rooted in compassion, empathy, and making clients feel genuinely cared for—especially when they’re dealing with medical injuries, loss, or the aftermath of an accident.

Megan also wanted to bring the level of service she appreciates in great restaurants, hotels, and businesses into her law firm, while making that experience accessible to everyone. Her goal is for every client to feel like they’re the only client.

Every personal injury case has a story — and understanding that story can make all the difference.

Medical bills and lost wages are measurable. But a client is more than a list of numbers on a case file.

Kristopher Burgess explains why the most effective way to tell a client's story is to actually get to know them. Not just through a questionnaire, but through real conversations that help you understand who they are and what they've been through.

Because sometimes, the details that matter most can't be captured on a form.

Being nervous before a deposition doesn’t necessarily mean you’re unprepared. Sometimes, it means you understand exactly what’s at stake.

For personal injury attorney Kristopher Burgess, those nerves are a reminder that real people are counting on him — and that the work matters.

In this clip from The Vitals & Verdicts Podcast, Kristopher explains why he doesn’t try to eliminate those nerves. He embraces them as motivation to do his best work for his clients.

There are not many people who can tell you what a nursing progress note actually means AND explain why it matters to your case strategy.

I can.

My background is a little unconventional, and I think that is exactly the point. I am a Registered Nurse with specialized training in psychiatric and behavioral health, which means I read medical records the way a clinician does, not the way a layperson guesses. Layer on top of that a collegiate foundation in Criminal Justice and Psychology, and you have someone who genuinely speaks both languages, clinical and legal, without losing anything in translation.

I have worked across psychiatric health, substance abuse, home health, and geriatrics. I am a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant and a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse. When a case involves complex behavioral health documentation, medication histories, or nursing standard-of-care questions, that is not unfamiliar territory for me. That is my territory.

And here is the part attorneys tend to appreciate most: I bring objectivity. My role is not to advocate for an outcome. It is to give you an accurate, unbiased clinical picture so you can build the strongest case possible with the facts in front of you.

Whether your case involves criminal defense, medical malpractice, or personal injury, I work remotely with legal teams nationwide from my base in Plymouth, Massachusetts.

Grand Rapids delivered.

I had the privilege of attending the Attorneys Resource Conference 2026 at the B.O.B., and it was exactly the kind of room I thrive in. Medical professionals and legal professionals, in the same space, speaking the same language. That intersection is where my work lives every day, so being surrounded by others who understand that connection was genuinely energizing.

The conversations were substantive. The networking was purposeful. And the reminder that attorneys and clinicians are stronger together when building a case, not working in silos, came through clearly throughout the day.

If we connected at ARC 2026, I would love to continue the conversation. And if we did not get a chance to meet, there is no reason to wait for the next conference.

I work with legal teams nationwide, remotely, to translate complex medical records into clear, actionable clinical intelligence. Whether you are building a case in criminal defense, personal injury, or medical malpractice, having a clinically trained eye on your side changes what you see in that record.

There is no performance here, no polished sales pitch, no version of me designed to tell you what you want to hear.

What I bring to your legal team is exactly what it sounds like: an objective, clinically grounded perspective from someone who has spent years inside healthcare settings, understanding how care is documented, how decisions are made, and where the gaps live.

I am a Registered Nurse and Certified Legal Nurse Consultant. My background spans psychiatric health, substance abuse, home health, and geriatrics, and my Criminal Justice degree means I understand both worlds without losing the integrity of either.

When you bring me into a case, you get someone who reads medical records the way a clinician does, asks the questions a litigator needs answered, and gives you an honest assessment, whether that helps your case or redirects your strategy.

That objectivity is not a disclaimer. It is the whole point.

If you are navigating a complex medical case and need a consultant who will give it to you straight, I would welcome the conversation.

Some of my best thinking happens on a long walk with my dog, Gemma.

There is something about fresh air, four paws hitting the pavement, and zero medical records in sight that has a way of clearing the mind. Gemma, for her part, is far less interested in my case strategy and far more interested in whatever that smell is near the oak tree. Fair enough.

But honestly, those walks matter. Stepping away from the desk, the files, and the clinical documentation long enough to just breathe has made me a sharper consultant and a more grounded professional. Reflection is part of the process, not a break from it.

I bring that same intentionality to every case I work on. When attorneys trust me with complex medical records, behavioral health details, or expert witness preparation, they deserve someone who shows up fully present and clear-headed. Not just credentialed, but genuinely engaged.

Whether Gemma gets credit for any of my better insights is still up for debate.

If you are looking for a legal nurse consultant who takes your case as seriously as a dog takes her morning walk, I would love to connect.
