**Hello, Granbury! I’d like to introduce myself. ❤️**
My name is **Jean Read**, and after **36 years as a physical therapist**, I’ve learned something that has completely changed the way I look at healing:
**A person is never just a diagnosis, a painful joint, a weak muscle, or a set of symptoms.**
We are incredibly complex human beings—body, mind, spirit, and emotion—and all of those pieces influence how we feel, how we function, and how we heal.
That belief isn’t something I learned only from textbooks or continuing education. It became deeply personal through **my own journey with cancer and recovery** over 20 years ago. I knew then that the body was made to heal, repair and restore itself. Therefore, if my body could create it, it could also uncreate it. I just had to find the best way to support it so it could do its' job.
Going through that experience changed me. It also deepened some of the frustrations I had already felt with modern medicine. I saw how easily healthcare can become focused on individual symptoms, diagnoses, medications, and body parts while losing sight of the **whole person sitting in front of us**.
Modern medicine can do extraordinary things, and I’m grateful for it. But I also believe there is a tremendous amount we miss when we don’t ask deeper questions:
**Why is the body struggling?**
**What is the nervous system telling us?**
**How are nutrition, stress, emotions, movement, circulation, energy, and our environment affecting the body’s ability to heal?**
**And how do we help the body work better as a whole?**
Those questions led me to spend years studying beyond traditional physical therapy, including **functional nutrition and functional medicine**, as well as the physiology, physics, and biophysics that help us better understand the human body.
Today, through **The Mosaic Holistic Collective, LLC**, I bring those worlds together.
I work with people dealing with **acute and chronic pain, nervous system dysregulation, pelvic health concerns, urinary incontinence in both women and men, erectile dysfunction, mobility and functional issues**, and many other conditions that affect quality of life. I also incorporate approaches such as **craniosacral therapy, nervous system regulation, whole-body functional treatment, and breathwork** when appropriate.
But perhaps the most important thing I can offer isn't a particular technique.
**It's that I will listen.**
I know what it feels like to want answers. I know what it feels like when your body isn't behaving the way you want it to. And I understand the frustration of feeling as though you're being treated as a collection of symptoms rather than as a human being.
After 36 years, I still believe the body has an extraordinary capacity to change and heal when we create the right environment for it.
Sometimes that means addressing muscles and joints.
Sometimes it means calming and retraining the nervous system.
Sometimes it means looking at nutrition and physiology.
Sometimes we need to consider stress, emotions, breathing, or long-held patterns in the body.
And very often, **it's a combination of all of them.**
I'm excited to become part of the **Granbury community**, to meet more of you, and to bring a different kind of healthcare conversation here—one rooted in science and experience, but also in curiosity, compassion, and respect for the whole person.
If you've been living with pain, bladder issues, pelvic health concerns, nervous system symptoms, or simply have the feeling that **“there has to be more we can do,”** I would love to meet you.
You don't have to settle for simply managing symptoms.
Sometimes the first step toward feeling better is having someone willing to look at the **whole picture.**
