Apparently, today is an orange kind of day!

Our Wellness Community Coordinator, Linda, has been working behind the scenes on a special project, and today’s focus just happens to be orange.

Totally unplanned, she also grabbed a bowl of clementines to snack on while she worked...and had to share the irony!

I guess her snack got the memo! 😂

Stay tuned... something fun is coming! 👀🌈

I love a story like this where all my favorite things weave together in perfection:
Art.
Community.
Optimizing health.
And improved quality of life 🧬

A new program in Charlotte, North Carolina, is using the arts to tackle loneliness and social isolation. Paul Solman reports on prescriptions for art instead of medicine for our series at the intersection of art and health, part of our CANVAS coverage.

We already know about how excess belly fat can increase your risk of dementia, and now new research from Florida Atlantic University has zeroed in on some of the biological links that may connect obesity and dementia.

In the study, the team found that two key processes within our mitochondria – the tricarboxylic acid cycle and the electron transport chain – begin to function improperly in both dementia and obesity, leading to an increase in harmful reactive oxygen species. The imbalance results in “energy stress,” which can damage key parts of the cell, such as DNA and membranes.

Congratulations on Another Milestone!

Congratulations to Dr. Ram Rao, Julie Gregory, and the whole team on the publication of a superb perspective on the KetoFLEX 12/3 diet and its remarkable impact on cognition. As we have all seen in multiple clinical trials and thousands of patients, avoiding the standard American diet and adopting a plant-rich, mildly ketogenic diet, high in fiber, polyphenols, prebiotics and probiotics, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, clean protein, without ultraprocessed food or simple carbs or gut-damaging grains, is an important part of the optimal protocol to prevent and reverse cognitive decline. For anyone interested in an excellent review and perspective on why this nutritional approach works so well, please check it out here: https://www.mdpi.com/2072-6643/18/13/2206
