This is a great question!!!!
Does saturated fat actually “clog” your arteries?
Not exactly like grease in a pipe — but it can absolutely contribute to the process.
Here’s the simple version:
Too much saturated fat can raise LDL cholesterol, often called “bad cholesterol.” When LDL is elevated over time, it can contribute to plaque buildup inside the arteries. That plaque can narrow the arteries and increase the risk of heart attack and stroke.
The goal is not perfection. The goal is awareness.
Common saturated fat sources include:
• Butter
• Cheese
• Cream
• Fatty red meat
• Bacon and sausage
• Fried foods
• Pastries and baked goods
• Coconut oil and palm oil
Better swaps:
• Olive oil instead of butter
• Fish or lean protein instead of fatty meats
• Greek yogurt instead of heavy cream
• More fiber from vegetables, beans, oats, and berries
• Strength training plus regular cardio
Your cholesterol numbers matter — but they are only part of the story. LDL, HDL, triglycerides, ApoB, lipoprotein(a), blood pressure, blood sugar, family history, hormones, inflammation, and lifestyle all help determine cardiovascular risk.
Small changes done consistently can make a big difference.
