Couldn’t have said it better ourselves 👏
(same goes for piercings)
Hot from the State of Michigan regarding body art regulations! While it has been our policy to not allow numbing creams to be used prior to appointments, now it is prohibited by the state.
If you arrive to your appointment with any type of numbing cream or ointment, your appointment will need to be rescheduled and your deposit may be lost.
It's been our policy to not use these products because many of them contain ingredients that can negatively affect both how your skin responds to being tattooed and how it heals. Difficulty in saturation, excessive swelling and redness, and more are common during the tattooing process while using these problems.
Additionally, in our experience, these products only last a limited amount of time and, after wearing off, can lead to more intense discomfort and pain than would have been experienced without these products since the body is not given the chance to acclimate to the skin trauma and pain.
While tattooers are sometimes asked if we enjoy hurting people, we promise you that we don't! We do our best to cause the least amount of pain we can and still solidly apply a tattoo while also acknowledging that tattoos are dumb and they hurt. 😂
