At NorthShore, we know play isn’t just fun - it’s essential. It’s how children grow creativity, build confidence, strengthen problem-solving skills, and form meaningful connections. Imaginative play reminds us to slow down and make space for what matters most.

We’re proud to partner with community and national organizations that share our commitment to supporting healthy childhood development. This year, we’re especially grateful to be recipients of the Weitzman Institute and LEGO Foundation's Prescription to Play grant, bringing LEGO bricks to our youngest patients and helping create moments of joy and imagination.

In this month's episode of Ask the Expert we're celebrating cancer survivor day (June 7th, 2026) with Brenda Ledbetter – a 16-year breast cancer survivor. Brenda shares how she had no symptoms of breast cancer and how her yearly mammogram (that she almost forgot) detected stage one breast cancer. Brenda's story is a reminder of the importance of routine cancer screenings an how early detection truly saves lives.
