We’ve always known that art is healing. And to make this space our own, our first step was to bring in art that reflects us, our cultures…now we’ve taken another step to magnify the power of art as medicine.
Paula Champagne’s mural graces our clinic’s wall- ready to embrace each person who walks in…right in time to celebrate our 5 year milestone & Black History/Futures Month. In the way that many good things happen in community, Paula was introduced to us through Essie Day Olou! Essie, an amazing massage therapist at Black Pearl Wellness and much more, made the introduction and we are so grateful she did!
Artist Statement:
“we are the sun” celebrates the healing and light we find in one another, and how our collective care can be rooted in our relationships with the earth and with each other.
Thank you Paula for sharing your creativity, artistry and magic with us!! This mural is such a vibe!!! To our beloved community- thanks for coming to celebrate with us & if you haven’t been in, we hope you get to see it soon, up close in person…so you too can see yourself in it.
