After two long sessions, this custom Filipino tribal leg sleeve is finally complete.
Rooted in my client’s Ilocano heritage and deep connection to family, every element was intentionally designed to tell his story.
The woven banig motifs symbolize the strength, unity, and interconnected bonds of his family tree. The rice fields on the shin honor his father, elders, and generations before him whose livelihood was built through agriculture and the land they cultivated.
Running along the back of the leg, the crocodile teeth with solid line create a strong backbone—representing resilience, protection, and the unshakable foundation from the land which he rooted from. Snake tongue motifs serve as the voices of the ancestors, offering guidance, wisdom, and direction through life’s journey.
The three bold lines symbolize a warrior, a military background, reflecting battles fought, discipline earned, and sacrifices made. Flowing wave and wind motifs pay tribute to sailors and seafarers, whose journeys were carried across oceans by the power of the wind.
More than a tattoo, this piece is a visual legacy—honoring ancestry, family, sacrifice, strength, and the path that continues forward.
Thank you for trusting me to bring your story to life through Filipino tribal art.
