“Social isolation among older adults has become a public health crisis, and being able to hear and connect with family, friends and communities is vital.”

We are grateful for the support of Cambia Health Foundation and their commitment to helping older adults stay connected through better hearing. Together, we are working to reduce barriers to hearing care and help Oregonians maintain meaningful connections with their families, friends, and communities.

💙🧡 Thank you, Cambia Health Foundation, for partnering with us to support sight and hearing across Oregon.

200,000 students screened! 🦁

On Tuesday, May 26, 2026, Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation celebrated a historic milestone as our School Vision Screening program screened its 200,000th student at Pilot Butte Middle School in Bend-La Pine School District, coordinated by Jon Awbrey.

This achievement reflects extraordinary growth and impact across Oregon. In the 2022-23 school year, we screened just under 160,000 students during our first fully regular year following the pandemic recovery period. In just three years, our program has grown by more than 20%, and today we are reaching approximately 35% of Oregon students statewide.

We are also proud to partner with more than 80% of Oregon public school districts to provide critical sight and hearing screenings that support student success both inside and outside the classroom.

What began decades ago as a much smaller effort screening approximately 10,000 to 20,000 students annually has grown into the largest year in program history. Reaching more than 200,000 screenings for the first time is a testament to the dedication of our volunteers, coordinators, schools, districts, and community partners across Oregon.

Thank you to every volunteer, coordinator, school, and partner who made this milestone possible. 💙🧡

For more than a decade, Lions have helped protect the sight and hearing of students across Northern Oregon through dedicated school screenings and service to local communities.

From 2012–2026, Brad King screened students across Northern Oregon, from Tillamook to Portland to the Idaho border, reaching an incredible 441,882 students.

From 2019–2026, Bert Diamond screened students throughout the Greater Portland area, reaching 114,331 students.

Together, that represents more than 556,000 students screened across Oregon. Thank you, Brad and Bert, for your extraordinary commitment to children, families, and our mission. 🦁💙🧡

🍫🦁 Donor of the Month Spotlight: Creo Chocolate 🦁🍫

We are honored to recognize Creo Chocolate as our Donor of the Month! Their continued generosity and partnership have made a meaningful impact on Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation programs and events.

Creo has regularly supported our gala online auctions through generous in-kind donations, and this past year they sweetened the event even more by sponsoring the take-home chocolate bunnies enjoyed by all of our gala guests. We are also incredibly grateful to be one of the nonprofit partners included in Creo’s generous donor program.

Thank you to the entire Creo Chocolate team for supporting our mission and helping us continue providing vital sight and hearing services throughout Oregon. 💙🧡

Today, we proudly recognize 16 incredible PRIDE members who have supported OLSHF through monthly giving for 10+ years. 🦁

Thank you for your continued support and for helping us kick off the PRIDE Monthly Recurring Donor Program.

PRIDE stands for Prestigious Recurring Individual Donor Entourage (and, of course, a family group of lions is also called a pride)! At OLSHF, PRIDE is a convenient way for donors to make monthly gifts that sustain our sight and hearing saving programs across Oregon.

100% of every donation directly supports programs including student vision screenings, eyeglass and hearing aid assistance, surgeries, and treatments.

Did you know OLSHF serves more than 200,000 children, adults, and seniors each year? Most PRIDE members choose to give a small amount monthly, creating lasting impact for neighbors in need while helping ensure OLSHF can continue saving sight and hearing throughout Oregon.

Free will is one of the most powerful gifts we have, the ability to choose the legacy we leave behind. 💙

At the Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation, that choice helps protect the sight and hearing of more than 200,000 Oregonians every year.

Laila knows the power of independence firsthand. Living with aniridia, a rare condition affecting her vision, she faced barriers to college, employment, and everyday freedom in her rural Prineville community. Through our Patient Care Program, she received a specialized bioptic telescope device and the training needed to qualify for her driver’s license.

“Getting all the independence of driving is actually the best thing that's probably ever happened to me.”

Just as Laila gained the freedom to choose her own path, you have the opportunity to create lasting freedom for future Oregonians through planned giving. By including OLSHF in your will, you ensure your values—and your generosity—continue to make an impact for generations to come.

Your legacy is your choice. Your free will has the power to change lives. FreeWill.com/OLSHF
