“The bridge across our divides isn’t built with better arguments or more persuasive facts. Rather, It’s built with the willingness to feel our own discomfort without making it someone else’s fault.

When we heal our reactions, we create space for genuine connection—even with those who once drove us crazy.

Is this easy? Not even close.

But it might just be the most important work of our time.

Can we heal together from our wounding, so we no longer have such divisiveness separating us? I believe this is not only possible but essential for our collective survival.”

~Excerpt from, Refuge for the Weary Empath: The Sacred Work of Healing Ourselves and Healing Our World

"Have you noticed how your mind gets extra busy right when you’re trying to fall asleep? The body naturally sees periods of quiet as opportunities for emotional processing of the day’s (or even year’s) events. However, because the mind fears facing previously buried feelings, it will engage various distractions to keep you awake or wake you during the night.

The anxiety we experience when unable to fall or stay asleep often stems from our expectations of what we think should happen when our head hits the pillow.

I advise my clients that this is an ideal time for emotional processing, if they can remember to do so! A good cry, journal entries, writing out the to-do list, or expressing previously unspoken thoughts to your partner can calm an agitated mind. Emotional release can transform meandering thoughts, worries, and fears into hours of blissful REM sleep."

"As a highly sensitive man, I can say without a doubt that this is a wonderful and remarkable book (Refuge for the Weary Empath) that applies equally to empaths, intuitives, and highly sensitive people. Dave takes us on a journey through the book, from original wounding to a path to healing, and then to the application of our gift in the real world. The book is packed with practical advice for navigating our lives as gifted souls. I highly recommend this book for HSPs, as it draws on Dave's decades of experience working with clients, his own lived experience, and the wisdom of intuitive learning. Do yourself a favor and read this enlightening book, a respite read in a turbulent world."

"Have you ever asked yourself why narcissists seem to show up everywhere in your life? If this dynamic feels familiar, you’re not alone. Many sensitive people find themselves repeatedly drawn into these challenging relationships. What is it about your energy they desire? What is it in them that we seek? Let’s explore this all-too-common dynamic.

Despite what they project, narcissists are in a lot of pain.

When children experience severe neglect or abuse, they often dissociate as a survival mechanism. In response, the child creates a dream persona (I’ll be somebody else. Another version of me has to be more lovable than the current version), but what is created is a closed-down version of their former tender selves in an attempt to minimize the pain. They project a “fantasized
perfection,” never admitting mistakes or taking responsibility for anything gone wrong.

As adults, this dream persona projects a know-it-all mentality, as if they’ve got everything under control. They’re great at blaming others for problems and attacking sources of discomfort rather than addressing the discomfort itself. Understanding this wounded foundation helps explain why empaths are particularly vulnerable to these dynamics.

As empaths, we can sense the narcissist’s pain and see that they are in need of healing. So we put on our superhero cape and get to work. Though well intentioned, this approach will never work. But we’ll keep trying, anyway.

Most empaths are very caring people. We’re compassionate and
understanding, and when we see someone in pain, we want to help them. But helping the narcissist becomes a cycle of depletion. Narcissists don’t want our help in healing; they just want our energy. They’re so blocked that nothing we do is really going to help them. They’re sponges for our life force. Even when things get really difficult, they’ll somehow manage to say the perfect thing to hook you back into their energy field and siphon you some more. They’re not evil; they’re wounded."

❤️ The Mind Seeks Clarity, The Heart Seeks to Love, and the Spirit Doesn’t Seek ❤️

In turbulent times, the mind tries to understand not only what is happening and why, but also what we can do in the 3D physical world to appease the discomfort.

Some, of course, will distract. We might get lost in social media, try to eat our way through it, or smoke or drink. But as we’re all learning (and re-learning), there is never enough of anything that can truly appease our pain when we’re living from the mind and its woundings.

For example, there is never enough attention to appease a narcissist, never enough money to appease greed, and never enough alcohol for an alcoholic. These are attempts to distract from the deeper pain of separation and abandonment. (If you’ve taken my Original Wounds classes or read Refuge for the Weary Empath, you already know the mechanisms of these wounds—and their healing—quite well.)

And for others, the mind can get lost in a myriad of more introspective techniques to try to micromanage our feelings: “If I know what this is about, THEN I’ll know what to do.” That mindset works in the 3D world, but it keeps us stuck when it comes to feelings.

What if, instead of trying to figure out or fight discomfort, we used it as a teaching moment? Can we pause and ask, “What is this discomfort trying to teach me?”

As a medical intuitive, I’ve seen that symptoms are messengers. When we fight them, they intensify. When we gently lean in—ideally in a safe container—insight emerges. We’re shown intuitively what is at the root, and how to best navigate what is happening.

The same is true for what’s happening around us.

Instead of unconsciously reacting to the external—getting triggered and re-triggered by narcissists, dishonesty, and the state of the world—we can ask, “What is this triggering within me?”

Because while we’re not responsible for others’ actions, we are responsible for what’s being activated inside of us.

When something deeply irritates or unsettles you, there is often something ready to be seen, felt, and healed.

But doing this on your own is like trying to learn a foreign language without a guide or translator. Deep transformation happens in authentic connection with others.

Being seen by someone with an open heart and a nonjudgmental mind changes everything. It helps us move beyond our blind spots and outdated survival patterns. Being truly seen softens the mind, opens the heart, and allows us to reconnect with something deeper—something that isn’t seeking, fixing, or striving.

Because while the mind seeks clarity and the heart seeks to love, the spirit doesn’t seek. It simply is.

And it’s from that place that true alignment happens.

That’s exactly what we’ll be doing together.

In my upcoming 2-week course, we’ll gently uncover your core blockages and old self-protection strategies—and begin to release them with compassion, moving beyond the mind and into the intelligence of the heart and soul. Through conversation, group meditations, and energetic healing, your mind can settle, your heart can share and receive what it’s truly been longing for, and you can realign with the deeper truth of who you are.

If this resonates, I invite you to join us.

NOTE: For those who have already taken this course with me, this will be an opportunity to go deeper than before, while still providing enough instruction for new attendees to experience this transformative work.

“Dave’s design of this course over a two week period is brilliant! It provided continuity and an ongoing connection to the process and to the learning. With the lapse of just one day in between sessions, it allowed valuable time to reflect, regroup and integrate the learning. I also noticed that in spite of having learned these exercises in Dave’s other courses, I really got so much more in revisiting these tools again. For example, when I first learned the keyhole and the return-to-sender exercises, I comprehended the information as valuable tools to use and did benefit from them. However revisiting and practising these again in this course, ‘I got it’ and felt the shift more in my body as a lived experience that brought more enlightenment to my spirit and overall well being. I can’t thank you enough Dave, for your kindness, your openness and for holding the space for all participants to feel valued and validated. Each hour felt rich and never rushed.”
– Z.B., Psychotherapist

You can attend live or listen later — whatever pace and rhythm supports you best.

Dave’s typical rate for a 6-module workshop is between $300 and $400.

But these are extreme times. Requiring extreme measures...

So we’re only charging $39—for all six modules over two weeks.

Seriously.

Begins May 5, 2026.

"Embracing 'what is' means using your own capacity for love, along with the love of Source, to energetically transform lower-vibration energy into higher-vibration energy. It’s like adding a spice to a bowl of soup; the spice transforms the entire contents, not just the area where it was added.

By adding the magic ingredient of validation, just as with spice in soup, everything changes naturally, organically, and without resistance. As you gently embrace whatever arises, the discomfort will slowly begin to dissipate.

All of life and every feeling is a temporary experience, a momentary blip on the vast radar of time. Consistently applying this embracing mindset to other aspects of your life, including self-criticism and judgments of others, will have a similarly transformative effect."

A Client, a Mystery, and a Lesson I Didn’t Expect

“Hi Dave, my father isn’t feeling well. He’s been to several doctors, and no one can find anything. I’m not expecting a diagnosis, of course—I was just hoping you could help him relax a bit while he goes through more tests.”

This was one of the first voicemails I received when I began practicing massage therapy.

I met him the next day. He seemed fit and vibrant—but also, understandably, confused.

About halfway through his session, I got the worst headache I’ve ever experienced. I had no history of anything like it. Looking back, I’m not sure how I finished the session, packed up my table, or even drove home.

A few days later, I was back to normal.

And then, a few days after that, she called to tell me he had passed away from advanced cancer.

I felt awful—not from another headache, but for her. Her dad had seemed active and healthy. Like anyone else. I was shocked.

Years later, it hit me: this was my first clear experience of physical pain resulting from an energetic transfer. Of course, I can’t prove that—but nothing else made any sense.

Eventually, I became known as “The Empath Guy,” writing a bestselling book on energetic transfer, return, and prevention. It stayed in Amazon’s Top 20 for 41 consecutive months—numbers that are practically unheard of for a self-published author.

That man was quite a teacher.

I can now see how so many of my experiences have shaped who I am today. And I see the same pattern in the people I work with.

We are constantly being shown who we are through our interactions with others. We are and have been guided the whole time.
