Ramadan Day 10

This Ramadan, I have kept a simple dinner for iftar. No fancy
7 course meals, no cold Lassi or Roohafza Sherbet at first sip to quench the thirst of the day. Just two dates and basic fare in honor of my ummah in Gaza. I wonder at Sahoor and I wonder at Iftar what did you eat ?? To start and break your fast with? This is the least I can do with you this Ramadan. Know Allah is with you. By far you have taught me more than any nation has ever done.

Do not love half lovers
Do not entertain half friends
Do not live half a life
and do not die a half death

If you choose silence, then be silent
When you speak, do so until you are finished
Do not silence yourself to say something
And do not speak to be silent

If you accept, then express it bluntly
Do not mask it
If you refuse then be clear about it
for an ambiguous refusal is but a weak acceptance

Do not accept half a solution
Do not believe half truths
Do not dream half a dream
Do not fantasize about half hopes

Half the way will get you no where
Half an idea will bear you no results

Half a life is a life you didn't live,
A word you have not said
A smile you postponed
A love you have not had
A friendship you did not know

The half is a mere moment of inability
but you are able for you are not half a being
You are a whole that exists to live a life
not half a life.

Let Go, Let God

My mom did not sleep. She felt exhausted. She was irritable, grumpy, and bitter. She was always sick until one day, suddenly, she changed.

One day my dad said to her:
- I've been looking for a job for three months and I haven't found anything, I'm going to have a few beers with friends.
My mom replied:
- It's okay.
My brother said to her:
- Mom, I'm doing poorly in all subjects at the University.
My mom replied:
- Okay, you will recover, and if you don't, well, you repeat the semester, but you pay the tuition.
My sister said to her:
- Mom, I smashed the car.
My mom replied:
- Okay daughter, take it to the car shop & find how to pay and while they fix it, get around by bus or subway.
Her daughter-in-law said to her:
- Mother-in-law, I came to spend a few months with you.
My mom replied:
- Okay, settle in the living room couch and look for some blankets in the closet.
All of us gathered worried to see these reactions coming from Mom.

We suspected that she had gone to the doctor and that she was prescribed some pills called "I don't give a damn”... Perhaps she was overdosing on these!

We then proposed to do an "intervention" w/my mother to remove her from any possible addiction she had towards some anti-tantrum medication.

But then ... she gathered us around her and my mom explained:
"It took me a long time to realize that each person is responsible for their life. It took me years to discover that my anguish, anxiety, my depression, my courage, my insomnia & my stress, does not solve your problems but aggravates mine.

I am not responsible for the actions of anyone & it’s not my job to provide happiness but I am responsible for the reactions I express to that.

Therefore, I came to the conclusion that my duty to myself is to remain calm and let each one of you solve what corresponds to you.

I have taken courses in yoga, meditation, miracles, human development, mental hygiene, vibration and neurolinguistic programming and in all of them, I found a common denominator in them all...

I can only control myself, you have all the necessary resources to solve your own problems despite how hard they may be. My job is to pray for you, love on you, encourage you but it’s up to YOU to solve them & find your happiness.

I can only give you my advice if you ask me & it depends on you to follow it or not. There are consequences, good or bad, to your decisions and YOU have to live them.

So from now on, I cease to be the receptacle of your responsibilities, the sack of your guilt, the laundress of your remorse, the advocate of your faults, the wall of your lamentations, the depositary of your duties, who should solve your problems or spare a tire every time to fulfill your responsibilities.

From now on, I declare all independent and self-sufficient adults.

Everyone at my mom's house was speechless.
From that day on, the family began to function better because everyone in the house knew exactly what it is that they needed to do.
For some of us this is hard because we've grown up being the caregivers feeling responsible for others. As moms & wives we are fixers off all things. We never want our loved ones to go through difficult things or to struggle. We want everyone to be happy.

But, the sooner we take that responsibility off of our shoulders & on to each loved one, the better we are preparing them to be MEsponsible.

When we lift the burdens of our shoulders, and give it to Allah our bodies will respond accordingly.

Ramadan Day 13
Manifesting your duas.

Allah Responds to the one who calls. Acceptance of the righteous duas.

Have you ever wondered how come our duas feel scattered, unanchored, afloat and drifting? We base our duas on simple hope, a may be or may be not and expect to see them materialize. What if instead you made your du’a with sincerity, with a focused mind and heart; and while being fully certain that Allah will answer it, and that no one can answer it but He.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Call on Allah while having full conviction that He will answer, and realize that Allah does not answer a du’a that proceeds from a heedless, inattentive heart.” [Tirmidhi]

He (peace and blessings be upon him) also taught us that du’a is answered in one of three ways:
(a) by actually giving the thing being asked; or
(b) by warding off a harm that would have otherwise afflicted the person; or
(c) as gifts awaiting the person in the next life, which is the best form of du’a being answered. [Musnad Ahmed]

Our conviction should be such that Allah will answer them with full certainty. Our scholars mention that Allah Most High only places du’a on the tongue of His servant that which he wants him to have. Manifesting a dua is bringing something tangible into your life through complete yaqeen. Knowing without a shadow of doubt what Allah’s answer will be. Once you’ve set your intention, ask for what you want—and write it down on paper, anchor it, then start working toward your ask

Do you remember as a child when right before a test we would be fervently making dua to pass the exam? Thinking the power of dua would give us the grades we desired without really working hard for it. While some of us were freaking out about the test and studying for it, I was super relaxed, believing that I’d pass without studying. Fast forward; I failed miserably.

I couldn’t answer a single question and learned the truth about dua. You have to work for your duas to be accepted. The next step is to be mindful of—and thankful for—what you receive. And let go of any resistance and limiting and negative beliefs. Make sure to check (and change) your energy. “What you think you become, What you feel you attract, What you imagine you create.”

Now envision, you want to build a house, you hire an architect and believe whole heartedly and predict that this house will not collapse on you. You imagine living in that house, you can anticipate the memories you will make in that house with full conviction.

Then believe in the architect “Allah swt “ who is building your life and erecting the world you desire to live in by accepting your fervent duas. With conviction know that he only has to say كُن فَيَكُونُ kun fa-yakūnu. Be and it is. This is the power of manifesting your duas.
