Nope, nope, nope! 🙅♀️
Today, we are busting some popular skincare myths and starting the conversation with what actually works and what is just “craaazy talk”.
I could probably write a book on this topic but I will limit myself to the first 3 that came to mind and are also the most problematic.
❌ Base tanning before summer helps prevent sunburn.
This is a major, huge, no! You are just exposing your skin to more UV rays and increasing your risk of sun damage.
❌ Natural or “clean” skincare ingredients are best.
Clean is a misleading term when it comes to skincare. Plus, it exaggerates what “chemicals” actually are, most of which are useful for your skin. Water is a chemical after all! 💦 So are plants! 😅
❌ A tight tingling sensation after applying skincare means the products are working.
The only time this can be true is when you are introducing products with glycolic acid, vitamin C, retinol, etc. If the tingle is more like a burn, or if it leads to itching and redness you want to stop using it right away.
