With mixed emotions, I announce that Homespun Midwifery will no longer be accepting new clients. I am taking a sabbatical to return to school in hopes of expanding my scope of care. It is scary to step away from a practice- and all it’s incredible clients! - that I have committed myself to but I trust that this is the best next step! I will miss providing this intimate form of care but also trust that I will return if and when the time is right.

So much of our job as midwives is meeting birthing people right where they are at. We get to be there with them in the intensity of labor, the sweet relief after they have their baby safely in their arms, and indulge in certain sense of humor that only the childbearing experience can offer. It fills our cup to establish such meaningful relationships with our clients.

This client bravely met what her body demanded of her as she swiftly brought her baby earth side.

🌼Feeling gratitude for midwifery today.🌼

As a midwife, you never really know what each day will bring. Caring for clients in the country allows me to slow down and be present with the earth. Breathing in the fresh air is reinvigorating and grounding. I paused to take one more gulp of fresh air and check out Mt Hood before heading back to town!

Alright, brace yourself Homespun crew- our dear Sarah would like to announce the arrival of her baby girl Elowyn Elizabeth born on 04/12!

It is always a privilege to walk this path of motherhood with clients but getting to do it with Sarah has truly been remarkable.

Elowyn clearly continues to thrive and just started smiling! 😆We are over the moon in love. Welcome little darling! 🥰

We are elated to welcome Harper Frances to the Homespun family! We are obsessed with her full head of hair and incredibly powerful mother. She came flying into this world at 9lbs 2oz in 05/21 and continues with to thrive! Her sister is adjusting well and learning the true meaning of being gentle.😆

Despite all that is going on in the world, people are still giving birth. Babies continue to remind me of our resiliency- delicate but strong. As a midwife, I feel like we live in the “in-between” as we usher new lives into this world. While we spend so much time with babies in utero, it is only a few weeks that we get to cherish our time with babies once earth side. I’ll take all of the snuggles!
