Let's bust one of the most persistent myths in aesthetics: "If I start Botox, I'll be stuck doing it forever."

Nope. Here's the truth.

Botulinum toxin is not physically addictive. Your body doesn't become dependent on it. If you stop getting treatments, your muscles simply return to their normal movement over time, usually within 3-4 months.

What CAN happen: you get used to how you look with it. You might prefer the smoother, more rested version of yourself. That's not addiction — that's just having a preference.

The other thing worth knowing: consistent neurotoxin use over time can actually slow the deepening of lines. So in some ways, starting earlier means needing less later.

But if you decide it's not for you? You stop. That's it. No withdrawal, no permanent changes, no consequences.

You're always in control of your own face. That's kind of the whole point.

I talk a lot about natural results. But what does that actually mean?

Here's how I think about it: if someone looks at you and thinks 'she looks great' before they think 'she's had work done' that's the goal.

Natural doesn't mean no treatment. It means treatment that serves your face instead of overriding it. It means proportions that make sense for your anatomy. It means you still look like you — just more rested, more balanced, more like the version of yourself you recognize in the mirror.

I use what I call the pinky finger test: if I can see the treatment before I see the person, we've gone too far.

This is why I spend so much time in consultations just looking. Asking questions. Understanding what you're actually bothered by versus what you think you're supposed to want.

Because the goal was never to look like someone else. It was always to look like the best version of you.

Perioral lines (the fine lines above and around the lips) are caused by a combination of things: volume loss over time, repeated muscle movement, sun damage, and sometimes just genetics.
