Spring is incredibly beautiful here in Portland! It comes on slowly with a new surprise daily. I love it. Right now my fig tree is sprouting leaves and tiny figs. My little neighbor came by yesterday to check it out and climb up on the huge limbs and picked all the flowers she could hold in her hands while saying hello to the butterflies flitting around in this magical yard. It's so beautiful to be part of such a sweet neighborhood where we all delight in harvesting and sharing with each other.

🌧Winter in the Pacific Northwest does not limit this passion, but taking a break in Hawaii last month was SO invigorating for me.🏝 It's wild to see how things grow in different zones in the world! 😃The pic here is of me enjoying a delightful cup of kava tea, which is a cultural drink in Hawaii for chilling out (great alternative to alcohol!).

Beautifully said...

It’s being beyond exhausted…and wanting to wake them up because you miss them

It’s wanting to empower them in their strength…and holding them close so they know you’ll always be there

It’s being overwhelmed with everything that needs to get done…and not wanting to miss one smile

It’s tracing every outline of their perfect little face because you never want to forget this feeling.

Motherhood is simultaneously holding the depths of all of these truths, while being knee deep dirty diapers and covered in breast milk. It is the direct visceral experience of being fully embodied.

It has shown me that I have only yet scratched the surface on what it means to be human. It is the most exhausting, fulfilling, all encompassing, outpouring of a love that can never really be put into words. I’ve never felt more incredibly alive.

My daughter has taught me the depth of my own fortitude. I feel so grateful. Tired…yes But I wouldn’t trade this for anything in the world.

A new study found that the practice of intermittent fasting (or time restricted eating) contributed to a 14% drop in DHEA levels in women. DHEA is an important fertility hormone and a precursor to other hormones after menopause. It also contributes to keeping your bone tissue healthy and strong.

Low levels of the DHEA can manifest as low energy levels, low s*x drive, depression, and even weight gain.

Another reason why it is so important to work with a health care practitioner to make sure this practice of time restricted eating is right for you (and isn't causing unwanted hormone imbalances!)

It's a quiet, drizzly morning here in Portland. So happy the rain is here for a few days so I can actually be inside doing chores that I put off this time of year, wanting only to be outside gardening and walking with the pup. It has been quite a year of missing each other and our families. Things are feeling a bit freer now that my loved ones have been vaccinated and the numbers slowly go down. I am easing back into work here in the city. I am available Sunday afternoons and Mondays, if you or anyone in your life needs me. I need to honor my vulnerable loved ones and only work with fully vaccinated people at this time, with the exception of the little ones of course. Thank you for being safe out there this year and taking care of the people you hold close.
