A big and heartfelt thank you to Fora Health and to everyone who makes moments like this possible.

Yesterday, DDA was honored to receive one of the three Fora Health Partner of the Year & Appreciation Awards—a recognition of the work we commit to year‑round in service to our community.

To our incredible DDA Outreach Specialists, our Assistant Director, and our Board of Directors: thank you for holding it all together through challenging times and for showing up with dedication, compassion, and resilience every single day.

DDA is more than a fellowship. We are a family—a community of peers who understand, who care, and who bring the skills and heart needed to support individuals facing mental health and addiction challenges.

With gratitude,
DDA

Opening Meditation — Step 1: “A new journey always starts with the first step.”
Take a slow breath in…
And let it fall gently out.
As we settle into this space together, we remember that every journey — every healing, every awakening, every return to ourselves — begins with a single step. Not a perfect step. Not a confident step. Just… the first one.
In Dual Diagnosis Anonymous, Step 1 invites us to acknowledge something profoundly human:
We are not in control of everything.
We cannot heal alone.
And we don’t have to.
For many of us, this step is not a surrender of defeat — it is a surrender of isolation. It is the moment we stop pretending we can carry the weight of our mental health and our addiction alone. It is the moment we allow community, connection, and compassion to walk with us.
Today, as we begin, we honor that first step.
We honor the courage it takes to show up.
We honor the honesty it takes to admit we are struggling.
We honor the hope — even if it’s small — that brought us here.
Let this moment be a doorway.
Let this breath be a beginning.
Let this meeting be a reminder that recovery is not a straight line — it is a shared path, walked one step at a time.
And today, we take that step together.

Dual Diagnosis Anonymous (DDA) Presents to Western Oregon University — Class of 2028!

Huge gratitude to the incredible students who joined today’s presentation on integrated co‑occurring challenges and the power of peer-led recovery support.

A special shout‑out to DDA Board Member and Director/Professor of Occupational Therapy for championing this work and helping shape the next generation of Health leaders.

And a big thank‑you to Yamhill County’s Abacus Program for your commitment to community education and for helping to remove stigma and discrimination around co‑occurring mental health and substance use challenges.

Together, we’re building a more informed, compassionate, and recovery‑centered Oregon.
