5 days ago we made a journey up to the east side of Mt Hood for a desperately needed Yarrow harvest. My usual harvesting spot off Hwy 35 was inaccessible due to the Grasshopper fire. Gratefully we drove on and found a wonderful meadow full of Yarrow. Taking photos was not high on the agenda proven by the fact that I left my phone in the car. On the way home we could see the giant plume of the fire in our rear view as we drove back to Portland on Hwy 26. By the next day this meadow was engulfed in smoke based on what I could see from the reports. As of today the Grasshopper fire may have jumped Hwy 35 and is possibly headed up the mountain. I have very special feelings toward this precious Yarrow that is now drying in my herb workshop. It is a crucial ingredient in my Herbal Wound Salve. 💚💚💚
