âWhat does OT actually help with when it comes to Lyme disease or chronic illness?â
And honestly, one of my favorite parts of occupational therapy is that it looks beyond just symptoms.
Because chronic illness impacts so much more than physical health.
It impacts your routines.
Your confidence.
Your identity.
Your ability to participate in life the way you want to.
I know firsthand how frustrating it can feel when simple daily tasks suddenly require so much energy and mental effort.
Things like:
Remembering appointments.
Meal prepping.
Keeping up with work.
Managing overwhelm.
Staying organized.
Feeling present in your own life.
These are real struggles.
And they deserve real support.
OT helps bridge the gap between surviving and actually feeling alive & present.
Not through pressure.
Not through pushing harder.
But through understanding your nervous system, honoring your body, and building supports that actually work for you.
Healing is not just about symptom management.
Itâs also about reclaiming pieces of yourself again.
