HB 795 could significantly impact behavioral health care access across Ohio. The proposed legislation would require prior authorization for all therapeutic behavioral health services provided through Medicaid managed care plans, creating new administrative barriers, delays in care, and additional strain on an already overwhelmed workforce. NASW Ohio is urging social workers, providers, and community members to contact legislators and members of the House and Senate Medicaid Committees to share concerns about the impact this bill could have on Medicaid clients and behavioral health providers across the state. A new version of an anti-fraud bill would ban family members from being paid by Medicaid to offer personal care services to disabled Ohioans. Swimming Safety Starts with You and the Choices You Make This Summer!

As temperatures rise and you head to pools, lakes, rivers, and splash pads, Scioto County EMA encourages everyone to make water safety a priority this summer.

A few simple precautions can help prevent tragedies:
• Never swim alone
• Supervise children near water at all times
• Wear brightly colored, neon swimwear
• Wear a life jacket when boating or swimming in open water
• Avoid alcohol while swimming or operating watercraft
• Learn CPR and basic water rescue skills
• Check weather conditions before heading out
• Stay hydrated and protect yourself from the sun and heat-related illness

Remember — rivers and lakes can have strong currents, sudden drop-offs, and hidden hazards. Even experienced swimmers should use caution.

If you’re spending the day outdoors:
• Keep a charged phone nearby
• Share your location with family or friends
• Call 911 immediately in an emergency
