Today’s a great day to reflect on what freedom means. For me, it’s helping women embrace this second half of life and become their BEST selves!

Now, let’s talk stretching! 😅 Do any of these sound familiar?

And at some point, you can’t keep pouring from an empty cup.

If you are:

✖️Constantly on edge

That’s where your non-negotiables come in. These are the daily habits you maintain no matter what. 💪

✨ Ever set a health or fitness goal that felt like a chore you had to drag yourself through?

And then, before you knew it, found yourself quitting yet again? 😫

We’ve all been there. We set big “important” goals, but when it's time to take action, we often fall short.

It starts with small things like:

❌ Skipping a workout
🍔 Ordering a burger and fries when you planned on getting a salad
🥤 Drinking that Diet Coke when you promised yourself you’d stick to water

And the list goes on…

Sure, these things might be fine once in a while. But when they become more than “once in a while,” it becomes challenging to create and stick with new healthy habits that lead to losing weight and feeling better in this chapter of life.

It can feel like you’re constantly playing tug-of-war with yourself… and it’s not a fun place to be in. 🙅‍♀️

The good news? There’s a way out of this cycle! 🙌

👉 Introducing: Values-Based Goal Setting (VBG).

When you set the right goal and have a realistic plan that fits your values (and life!) — it’s SO MUCH EASIER to stay on track.

So grab a piece of paper and a pen, because it’s time to go to work! 📝

Step 1: What’s your big goal? What do you want to accomplish?

Example: Finish your first 5k, lose 20 pounds, or lower your blood pressure to 120/80.

Step 2: Use the following prompts to help align your goal with your values and personality:

Make three columns on the piece of paper.

- Label the first column “I’m the kind of person who…”,
- The second column “And it’s important to me that…”,
- And the third, “So I’d feel good about accomplishing…”

Then, fill it out to come up with a plan to achieve your goal!

See how this is a little different than setting normal goals? It blends your personality with what matters to you… so you can carve out a path that fits who you are.

Once you find your groove, it’s a matter of sticking to your plan, celebrating your small wins, and reminding yourself WHY you set your goal! 🎉

Sure, having a sense of urgency can drive us, but downtime is where the magic happens, especially during menopause when your body and mind are changing. 🌸

It’s like building muscle. We need to exercise and challenge our muscles to stimulate growth... But it's during our rest days when our muscles repair, recover, and get stronger. 🏋️‍♀️

Our brain works the same way! Doing less can help your brain be more creative and learn new skills. This is crucial during menopause when you might feel foggy or overwhelmed. 🧘‍♀️

But here’s the thing…

Downtime does NOT mean:
- Scrolling through your phone 📱
- Binge-watching TV 📺
- Doing a puzzle or reading 📖

Downtime DOES mean:
- Vacuuming 🧹
- Walking (without music or a podcast) 🚶‍♀️
- Daydreaming on the couch ☁️

Mindless activities activate your brain’s “default mode network,” boosting creativity and memories. 💭

It’s all about finding balance, especially if you’re feeling overwhelmed or dealing with hot flashes. 🌸

Welcome to Kristin Fitness

Kristin DiDomenico is the owner of Kristinfitness, a personal training and health coaching business based in northern Virginia. She is an AFFA certified personal trainer and certified holistic health counselor. For the past 20 years, she has been training, educating and motivating people to live their best life through her personalized health and fitness programs.

Kristin became a health and nutrition counselor to help women improve their eating habits and break cycles of addictive and emotional eating in order to develop and maintain a healthy weight and a positive relationship with food. She received her health coach training at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City.

Kristin offers individual and group health, fitness and nutrition coaching for busy female professionals and moms, both in person and online.

Kristin is also the author of DYING TO BE ENOUGH.
