“Doc, I brush every day… why am I still getting cavities?” 😭🦷

We hear this more often than you’d think — and the answer is usually not just one thing.

Sometimes the “cavity crew” looks like this:

🪥 The toothbrush: old, worn out, or hard-bristled
A worn toothbrush will not clean as well, and the ADA recommends replacing your toothbrush every 3–4 months, or sooner if the bristles are frayed.

How often should I visit the dentist?

ADA standard of care is every six months for a cleaning and dental checkup.

At each appointment, we do more than just polish your teeth. We check for:

• Periodontal disease
• Signs of oral cancer

• Small changes that may not hurt yet
• Early problems before they become bigger issues

Decay can grow in as soon as a few weeks to a couple of months, which is why regular visits matter.
