We have had the pleasure of having work by Ellen Greenblum on our walls for the past few months, and there is still time for you to see this show! We will be open Saturday and Sunday 10-5 this weekend. Come down and say hi, peruse our shop, and see Ellen’s beautiful work.

Our new show goes up on August 28th, with an opening reception that night from 6-8pm. The new show will feature a collection of work from all five of our Studio Artists - Bella Chewning, Tiffany England, Jess Crocker, Brianne Heath, and Aubreigh Himes.

We hope to see you this weekend, and again on Friday August 28th from 6pm - 8pm. Come support local art and artists, be in community with like minded people, enjoy refreshments, and experience all that Toothpick has to offer!

You’ve asked and we have answered: we’re hosting our first MAKERS MEETUP! And what’s better? This one will be an Art Supply Swap as well!

If you’re an artist, maker, creator, doodler, crafter, or someone in between, you are welcome at this meetup. Meet other like minded people, or bring friends and just come hang. Either way, we want you to come! This will be a drop in event, come for the whole time or just come for a few minutes, just make sure you come.

In addition to the meetup, we will be having an art supply swap. Here’s how it works: bring in anything that you’re not using, don’t need, or don’t love to use, as long as it falls somewhere in the realm of art supplies and isn’t broken (and keeping each item smaller then a bread box). Bring what you want, and leave with what you want. We won’t be counting items in and items out, this is a honor system swap. An art swap acts as an opportunity for artists to get the materials they need, while also gifting to someone else! At the end of the event, anything left over will be donated to the Launch Pad Teen Center art program.

This beginner-friendly class is designed for those who feel drawn to creating digital artwork but aren’t sure where to begin, or for those who have already dabbled in Procreate but want to feel more at home within the app.

Supplies required: iPad, ProCreate app, Apple Pencil (or any other compatible stylus).

We’ll approach digital illustration the same way you would any traditional art form: slowly, intuitively, and with room to explore. In this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to navigate Procreate’s interface, work with brushes and layers, experiment with color, and learn more basic tools to help you get started. By the end of the course, students will create their own digital drawing using the skills they have learned.

This class is also an invitation to explore how you can use digital illustration as a tool for other creative work. From creating mockups, sketches, graphics and more, you’ll be introduced to the many directions this skill can take. You don’t have to have aspirations to become a professional illustrator to take this course — students from all different backgrounds are encouraged to learn how Procreate can work for them.

Students should bring a fully charged iPad with the Procreate app installed, any compatible stylus, and a notebook.

About Your Instructor

Lindsey Rouleau is an illustrator and muralist rooted in a lifelong love of drawing and painting. She began her creative career as a graphic designer, and now days she blends those digital skills with her love for hands-on artistry. She uses tools like her iPad and VR to dream up and map out murals before bringing them into the physical world. She has enjoyed creating murals for clients such as Wild Iris, Matcha Magic, and many residential clients. She lives and creates in Prescott, Arizona with her husband and two kids. Bella has three more tattoo classes happening this year! The next one is coming up on Sunday September 13th at 2:00pm! Fundamentals of Tattooing - On Stencil Prep and Fake Skins is class two of four. In this class you will learn:
• An overview of stencil options and fake skin options
• A comparison of fake skin vs. real skin
• Techniques on how to use stencil paper
• How to properly prep fake skin for use
• The fundamentals of stencil application onto fake skin
