We get these questions all the time, and the answers always seem to surprise people. 😆

The reality is that when you're building something from the ground up, you end up wearing a lot of hats. 🤠

Designer.
Website builder.
Social media manager.
Receptionist.
Office manager.
Cleaning crew.
Pediatrician.

Has it been a lot of work? Absolutely.

We've learned a lot, grown a lot, and worn more hats than most people would ever want to. 😅

And honestly? We'd do it all over again.

Because we believe healthcare can be better.
More personal.
More accessible.
More human.

Some people think we're a little crazy. 😜

Maybe they're right.

✨But the secret is loving what you do so much that you're willing to wear all those hats to protect what matters most. ✨

And if you're a Lionheart family, you know exactly what that means. 🦁💛

You know what we're building.
You know what makes it different.
And you know why it's worth it.

🩸🧠 Lead exposure remains an important health concern for young children, and Maine continues to have some of the oldest housing stock in the country.

Lead can be found in:
🫟 older paint and paint dust
🏠 contaminated soil around older homes
💦 certain plumbing systems
📦 imported products
👨🏼‍🔧 some hobbies or occupations that bring lead dust into the home (for example, construction work, plumbing or automotive repair).

✨. Because lead exposure often causes no obvious symptoms, routine screening is one of the best ways to identify a problem early and prevent serious long-term effects on growth, learning, and development✨

🦁💛 At Lionheart, we’ve worked hard to identify ways to make healthcare more convenient for busy families. That’s why we offer in-office lead testing with a simple finger poke at no additional cost—it’s included in your membership and recommended at 12 & 24 mo

✅ No trip to the lab
✅ No venous blood draw
✅ No extra bill
✅ No waiting weeks for results
✅ No risk of having to repeat the test because the sample was insufficient or lost
✅ Results in less than five minutes, right in the office

Because when you’re juggling work, school schedules, activities, and everything else life throws your way, the last thing you need is another appointment, another bill, or another errand. A quick finger poke, results before you leave the office, and one less thing on your to-do list. 💜

PS thank you for the prop Up North Plumbing !

You’re already paying for insurance…

So why does healthcare still feel so expensive? 💸

I hear this all the time:

“I’ve thought about joining, but we already have insurance.”

And honestly, that hesitation is understandable. Every household has a budget.

But I encourage families to do the math. 🤔💭

Many families are already paying out of pocket for the bread-and-butter healthcare services they use most—sick visits, regular check ups, basic testing and simple procedures.

Those costs are often billed individually, with each visit, test, and treatment generating another charge. What feels like routine and basic healthcare can very quickly become surprisingly expensive. 💰

Compare that to a monthly membership fee that includes all your visits, all routine vaccines, most in-office testing, and many common procedures.

But cost is only part of the equation.

Because if families were paying these costs and consistently felt all of their needs were being met, that would be one thing.

But how many families have:

• gone to a walk-in clinic multiple times for the same problem because their child wasn’t getting better? 🤒

• left a visit with unanswered questions because there wasn’t enough time to address everything? ⌛️

• found themselves worrying on a weekend, wondering whether something could wait until Monday? 😣

• panicked and gone to the ER, only to spend hours waiting, receive a large bill, and learn that their child had a virus and was already receiving the right care at home? 😑

Walk-in clinics, urgent care centers, and emergency rooms all serve an important role. But they’re not designed to replace a relationship with a primary care physician who knows your child and is invested in keeping them healthy.

So yes—do the math.

But also…

✅ Look at the access.

✅ Look at the convenience.

✅ Look at the peace of mind.

For many families, Lionheart can make a big difference, not just in their budget, but in their peace of mind 🦁💛

We’re still accepting patients, but we’re growing quickly. If you’ve been thinking about joining, now is a really good time.

This week’s success stories. 🦁🧡

💜 Mental health has been a big win these past couple of weeks. My heart is overflowing with joy knowing that both patients and parents (moms in particular) are finding support at Lionheart. Seeing families come into the office with smiles on their faces, feeling lighter and more at ease, is exactly what I envisioned a year ago when I was dreaming this practice up.

💜 We’ve also had more tongue and lip tie release success stories. The results continue to be remarkable. Seeing tears of joy stream down moms’ faces, watching babies feed comfortably immediately after the procedure, hearing reports of less pain, less gagging, and better feeding—just to name a few—is incredibly humbling.

💜 Direct texting with my families continues to be one of my favorite benefits of our practice. This week, several families were able to avoid an office visit with a quick conversation, a few pictures, and in some cases a prescription sent directly to the pharmacy. Others simply needed reassurance or evening support. Being able to troubleshoot concerns in real time is unmatched. It saves all of us - families and us - work by staying ahead of issues, avoiding unnecessary visits, and helping families feel informed and reassured before a small concern turns into a level 10 worry.

💜 A few families walked out of the office with affordable medications already in hand, saving themselves an extra trip to the pharmacy. It’s a small convenience, but when you’re juggling work, school, sports, and family life, those little things matter.

💜 Several ear-piercing smiles

💜 A number of last-minute same-day visits, allowing us to help families exactly when they needed it.

💜 And perhaps my favorite part of all: the relationships that continue to grow with each visit, text message, and conversation. Building those connections is one of the greatest joys of practicing medicine this way. Many of you genuinely feel more like friends and extended family than patients.

Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for trusting me and allowing me to be part of your lives.

Almost every day as I leave the office, I pause and thank God—the true Lion behind Lionheart—for the opportunity to practice medicine this way. It is a gift I hope I never take for granted. 🦁💛

And to the family that treated us to this absolutely decadent treat from Hub Coffee thank you 🤤💜

“Your labs are normal.” 🔬

Sometimes that statement misses A LOT of nuance.

Ferritin.
Vitamin D.
Blood sugar markers.
Cholesterol.

There’s often a big difference between a level that is technically “within range” and a level that is truly supporting energy, performance, recovery, sleep, prevention and long-term health.

That’s why I don’t just glance at a red or green flag on a lab report.

I look at patterns.
Trends over time.
Symptoms.
Nutrition.
Lifestyle.

These deeper dives take TIME — and honestly, it’s one of the many reasons I’m thankful for the DPC model at Lionheart. 🦁💛

Because I want my kids thriving. 💪🏻
And I want my parents getting answers, clarity, and peace of mind. 🩵

When you love your work, long days feel different. The challenges feel different. The extra hats, the problem-solving, the constant learning—it all feels worth it when you’re building something you believe in. 🦁💛

At Lionheart, we’re intentionally building a practice centered on relationships, trust, and the time to truly care for people. It’s a model that allows us to practice medicine in a way that aligns with our values and reminds us why we chose healthcare in the first place.✨

And while I’m grateful for what that means for our patients, I’m equally grateful for what it means behind the scenes. Creating an environment where people enjoy coming to work, feel supported, and can focus on caring for others is something worth building.💕

Medicine is science. But it’s also an art. 🧬+ 🎨

So much of pediatrics is education, communication, and helping families build confidence.

Every visit is an opportunity to add tools to the parenting toolbox—learning what’s normal, what deserves attention, and when it’s okay to take a deep breath. 💜

My goal isn’t for families to leave with blind reassurance.

It’s for them to leave feeling informed, empowered, and knowing what to do next. 🦁💛

One small shift that can make a surprisingly big difference in raising confident kids:

Instead of only saying:
✨ “I’m proud of you.”

Try adding:
✨ “Are YOU proud of yourself?”

Kids absolutely need to hear that we’re proud of them. Connection, encouragement, and feeling seen matter.

But they also need opportunities to build something quieter—and more durable:
their own internal voice.

Because eventually, our voice becomes one of many influences they learn to weigh and navigate.

Developmentally, this is especially true in the teen years. Part of adolescence is figuring out identity and becoming more influenced by peers. That shift is normal. Teenagers naturally start asking:

❓“Where do I fit?”
❓“What do people think of me?”
❓“Who am I outside of my parents?”

The problem is… today that feedback loop never really turns off.

Likes.
Views.
Comments.
Constant comparison.

And when worth becomes anchored to outside approval, confidence starts to feel fragile. ❤️‍🩹

So celebrate your kids.
Tell them you’re proud.

But every now and then ask:

💚 “What part are YOU most proud of?”
💚 “How did that make YOU feel?”
💚 “What do YOU think you did well?”

Because the goal isn’t children who need applause.

It’s children who know their value. 🦁💛

If this resonates, share it with another mom or dad raising phenomenal kids 🌟
