Doctors of Acupuncture Mary Claire Dilks, Sarah Karsmarski and Charlotte King offer customized acupuncture and herbal treatment to meet your individual needs and have extensive education and experience to treat patients in conjunction with other medical treatments or as the sole modality. We participate with Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Health Care, Tufts, Cigna and Neighborhood. Patients should check directly with their insurance provider to verify coverage. Herbal Medicine and supplements are an additional cost. Additionally, our Licensed Massage Therapist, Kate Waters, offers deep tissue massage, pregnancy massage, and holistic massage and is available afternoons and evenings Thursday, Friday, and every other Saturday. Take a minute. This is your 60-second reset.

1. Bring awareness to your head. 2. Soften the muscles around your eyes, your temples, and your jaw. 3. As you breathe out, feel the tension easing. 4. Now, put down your phone and take a few more deep breaths, releasing and softening with each exhalation.

Why does this work? Deep, slow breathing and intentional muscle relaxation directly influence the autonomic nervous system (ANS) in a few ways.

- Activates the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS), your "rest and digest" system. Slow breathing increases vagus nerve activity, which lowers heart rate and blood pressure.

- Reduces sympathetic nervous system (SNS) activation. The SNS is your “fight or flight” system. Deep breathing signals that you’re safe, so stress hormones like adrenaline decrease.

- Improves heart rate variability (HRV). Higher HRV is associated with better emotional regulation and resilience.

Our world is moving fast. The more you can intentionally slow down, the better.

Have you heard? We're staring a walking club on Sunday mornings! We'll meet at Imperial at 9am, walk through the historic Jewelry District, over the Pedestrian Bridge, up the hill to Benefit street. Then we'll enjoy the historic houses and trees as we walk to Point st., over the bridge in this pic, and back to Imperial.
