For many families, getting a child involved in sports is not as simple as signing up.

Parents may wonder whether their child will be able to keep up, understand the drills, feel comfortable in a new group, or actually enjoy being there. Sometimes the hardest part is just finding a place where a child can try sports without feeling like they have to prove anything first.

Mikey's League and Pleasant Grove Recreation are hosting a free day where athletes with disabilities ages 6 and up can try basketball, flag football, and street hockey in a fun, supportive environment.

The goal is not to show up already knowing how to play. It is to come out, try something new, cheer for each other, laugh a little, make some new friends, and leave feeling good about what you were able to do.

Coaches and volunteers will help athletes participate at their own pace, and the day will include support from Jr. Jazz, Utah Mammoth, and the NFLPA Former Players Utah Chapter.

No sports experience is needed, all equipment is provided, and the event is completely free.

Saturday, September 5
10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Cook Family Park in Pleasant Grove

If you have been wondering whether your child might enjoy sports, this is a good day to come find out.

Thanks to the generosity of the Utah Giving Machine, Ability 1st Utah was honored to be selected as one of the charitable organizations featured in the Orem Giving Machine last year. Because of the community's support, we are able to provide essential mobility equipment at no cost to individuals and families who need it most.

We currently have manual wheelchairs, rollator walkers, and support grab bars available to members of the Ability 1st Utah family. These items can make a meaningful difference by increasing independence, improving safety, and helping individuals overcome mobility barriers in their daily lives.

For more information about obtaining mobility equipment and enrolling in our services, please call Ability 1st Utah at 801-373-5044.
