Happy Monday everyone!
Just finished the 4 Class ‘Introduction to Tai chi’ Mini-Series at the Gig Harbor Public Library. It was great seeing students using Structural Alignment by aligning DU-20 (Baihui) and K-1 (Yongquan) in their movements.

Happy Tuesday! Structural Alignment in Tai chi aligns key acupuncture points to facilitate energy (Qi) flow, centering on the vertical connection between GV-20 (Baihui) at the crown and K-1 (Yongquan) on the soles, alongside the Lower Tan Tien. Proper alignment lowers the center of gravity, relaxes joints, and opens meridians to prevent energy blockages, connecting the waist, legs, and spine.
Study these acu-points in relation to each posture and during weight transfer.

Most people who practice Tai chi eventually reach a point where progress slows. The movements are familiar, the form is memorized, and the practice feels pleasant— although something deeper seems just out of reach.

This is not a failure of ability. It is a natural transition point that everybody goes through.

Advancing to the next plateau does not come from learning more choreography. It comes from refining HOW you move, HOW you listen, and HOW your nervous system coordinates the body as a whole.

Plateaus are not signs of failure. They are signs that old training methods have reached their limit.

But the good news is that a plateau usually means you’re ready for the next one. Understanding that is the first step toward advancing your practice again!

Tai chi is a set of principles, not a collection of moves. Until those principles are embodied in what you already know, adding more content just increases complexity without building depth. This is one of the key insights behind how real Tai chi skill is developed.. BEYOND THE FORM.

Keep up the good work & see u in class!
