This is after just two deep tension/ nervous system release bodywork sessions.

You can already see changes in how he’s moving, loading, and organizing through his body.

What’s important is this isn’t just muscle work, it’s about releasing deeper tension patterns and compensation held in the nervous system.

This is still early in his process, and there are more layers we’ll continue to work through over time.

PEMF is also part of his upcoming care with me, and it pairs really well with this type of work.

While our bodywork plan helps release protective tension patterns, PEMF supports pain, circulation, tissue recovery, and overall cellular function so the body can respond and integrate changes more effectively.

Together, they support the horse on different levels of the same system.

This is just the beginning for him.😊🐴

Deep tension/nervous-system-led bodywork isn’t just muscles melting, it’s the brain switching from survive to thrive. Fancy is demonstrating the equine version of logging out for the weekend.😌🥰

"But she only stood square for a minute."

And that's exactly why I was excited.😊

This mare has a history of standing camped out in front and behind. During her session, she voluntarily stood square for a short period of time.

She simply chose a different posture.

As a bodyworker, I'm not looking for perfection immediately during or after a session. I'm looking for clues. No matter how small they seem.

When a horse briefly adopts a posture they've been avoiding, it tells me their body and nervous system may be experiencing a different option than before.

Will she stand square forever now? No.

But moments like this matter because lasting changes often start as brief glimpses of what's possible.

The body tries something new. The nervous system processes it. Then with time, repetition, and continued support, those moments can become the new normal.

Small wins are still wins. ❤️

Not the poll.
Not the shoulders.
Not the back.

It's The Groin

It's one of the areas I find holding deep tension more often than people realize.

When a horse is carrying tension here, it can affect how they move, how they feel, and sometimes even how they behave.

Some things you might notice:
Behavioral signs:
• Pinning ears when being groomed or tacked up
• Resistance to moving forward
• Difficulty standing for the farrier
• Grumpiness when asked to work
• Kicking out during transitions
• Trouble relaxing
• Acting fresh or reactive for seemingly no reason

Mechanical signs:
• Shortened hind-end stride
• Difficulty stepping underneath themselves
• Stiffness in lateral work
• Swinging the hindquarters
• Crookedness
• Difficulty backing up
• Uneven canter leads
• Toe dragging
• Tightness through the pelvis and low back

A lot of people think tight muscles are the problem.
But what I often see is that the tension is being held because the nervous system doesn't feel safe enough to let it go.

The groin is a very vulnerable area for horses. When they begin protecting that area, they often start compensating through the pelvis, back, shoulders, and even the poll.

Then we end up chasing symptoms.

The horse is stiff. The horse won't pick up a lead. The horse doesn't want to engage their hind end. The horse seems grumpy under saddle.
But sometimes those things are just clues pointing us toward a deeper tension pattern.

This is why my work isn't about forcing muscles to release.

Through deep tension and nervous-system-focused bodywork, I'm looking for the places the horse is protecting and helping them process that tension in a way their nervous system accepts.

Because when the nervous system lets go, the body often follows.

Michelle and Pip both showed up with tight shoulders, one from human life, one from horse life. PEMF gives them each a chance to let that pain and tension go.

The shoulder is a busy crossroads for both species: big postural muscles, lots of fascia, and a whole lot of "I carry more than I realize" energy.

PEMF helps increase circulation, ease muscle fatigue, and support the nervous system so the body can shift out of that braced, overworking mode. And of course, these two ended up relaxing in perfect sync. ❤️

Their owners consistently do the exercises I give them to do in between sessions.

The exercises I recommend help reinforce those changes so they can become lasting improvements instead of temporary ones.

Here's why they matter:
✅ Reinforce the work we've done.
This helps your horse's body remember healthier, more comfortable movement patterns.
✅ Improve body awareness.
Which encourages your horse to use areas that may have been restricted, guarded, or underused.
✅ Support lasting results.
The goal isn't just for your horse to feel better today, it's to help them move better long-term.🙂
✅ Build strength where it's needed.
As old tension patterns release, your horse needs to learn how to support themselves in a new way.
✅ Reduce compensation patterns.
Exercises help prevent the body from falling back into old habits.
✅ Keep the momentum going.
The small things you do between sessions often have the biggest impact on your horse's progress.

When exercises aren't done:
❌ The body is more likely to return to familiar movement patterns.
❌ Tension can build back up more quickly.
❌ Progress may be slower or less noticeable.
❌ Your horse may not fully hold onto the changes from the session.

Think of bodywork as opening the door to change. The exercises just help your horse walk through it.🤎🖤🩶

Before this session, this horse consistently stepped the right hind inward and in front of the left hind, rather than tracking straight.

While every horse is an individual, this type of movement pattern is often a sign of compensation.

When a horse is carrying tension through the pelvis, sacroiliac region, hindquarters, or even diagonally through the body, they'll often find a different way to move, one that feels safer and more comfortable to them.

That's why my focus isn't on forcing a horse into a particular posture or movement pattern.
Using the deep tension and nervous-system-led bodywork, I work to help the horse release deep tension and support the nervous system so the body can move more freely on its own.

When the restriction changes, the movement often changes too.

Your horse's movement is constantly providing clues. The question is: what is it trying to tell you? 🐴✨

A horse can't fully access strength, balance, and quality movement when the nervous system is stuck in protection mode. Real, lasting change happens when the brain and body work together. 🐴✨

C1 (Atlas) and C2 (Axis) are the first two cervical vertebrae and neurologically significant segment of the entire spine. Here's why I target this area with PEMF and why matters:

The atlas and axis don't just support the head, they house and protect the brainstem and upper spinal cord, and they're the transit point for nearly every nerve signal traveling between brain and body.
Tension or restriction here affects everything downstream.

Downstream covers more than most people realize. Things like:
-Stiff or resistant to bend one direction
-Won't hold a lead or swaps behind
-Head tossing or poll sensitivity
-Short strided in front for no clear reason
-Girthy or defensive when tacking up
-Spooky or can't seem to settle
-The way your horse carries his back
-Whether he bends softly or braces through contact. -Why he's been "off" in a way nobody can quite name

Chronic tension here doesn't always look like a neck problem. It shows up in the hindquarters, the shoulder, the horse that just feels disconnected. That's your nervous system talking.

PEMF at C1 and C2 reduces inflammation, calms overloaded nerve tissue, improves circulation to an area that's often locked down tight, and gives the whole system a chance to finally let go.

Because nine times out of ten, the "bodywork didn’t work" problem isn’t the practitioner,
It’s the CONSISTENTCY.

Bodywork is not a magic wand.
It’s not a one‑time oil change.
It’s not "Fix my horse in one session so I can go back to riding like nothing’s wrong."

Let’s put this in horse‑owner language:

Do you get your horse’s teeth floated one time and expect them to chew perfectly for the rest of their life?

Do you get their hooves trimmed once and assume they’ll stay balanced, aligned, and functional forever?

Do you call your farrier out a single time and go,
"Perfect. That should hold them for the next decade." Of course not.

Because you know better. So why does bodywork get treated like a one‑night stand instead of a maintenance plan?

Here’s the truth:

Consistency - One session opens the door. Repetition creates real, lasting change.

Hoof‑body connection - If the feet are out of balance, the body will be too.

Dental‑body connection - TMJ tension, poll tension, posture, it all ties together.

Realistic expectations - I don’t "fix" horses. I support their body so the horse can heal. I work with their body so it can finally do what it’s been trying to do all along: release, rebalance, and move without pain.

If you want lasting change, you need a plan, not a miracle.❤️
