What’s the difference between “surgical steel” and 316L? 🤔

A lot of people think they’re one in the same.. but here’s the simple breakdown:

“Surgical steel” is a broad term. It doesn’t always tell you the exact grade or quality of the metal.

316L is a specific grade of stainless steel. It’s more corrosion-resistant and commonly used in body jewelry.

BUT….both can contain nickel.
For some people, nickel isn’t an issue. For others, it can cause irritation, redness, or delayed healing.

That’s why we’re big on implant-grade titanium.
**It is lightweight, nickel-free, and ideal for fresh piercings.
