Dental Hygiene faculty Karen Maasch and Jocelyn Weinhagen participated in the Ultrasonic Scaling Teaching Institute, a professional development opportunity funded by Dentsply Sirona. During this three-day program, they engaged in both didactic and hands-on training focused on ultrasonic instrumentation techniques and digital scanning technology, enhancing their knowledge and skills to bring back to the classroom and clinic.

We are so proud of Hannah, and all of her classmates, who graduated today!

“Wake Tech doesn’t just prepare students for careers. It shapes people into the best versions of themselves.”

Hannah Winspear’s Wake Tech journey is one of growth.

She’s earning her Associate in Applied Science in Dental Hygiene, a rigorous program filled with early mornings, long clinical days and frequent exams.

“There were moments when graduation felt very far away and moments when I questioned whether I was strong enough to keep going. But those challenges shaped me and pushed me to grow not only as a student but as a professional and as a person.”

In addition to her dental hygiene training, Hannah says she’s also learned perseverance, patience and the importance of hard work at Wake Tech. She’s grateful to her instructors for guiding and believing in her potential.

"Wake Tech pushed me outside of my comfort zone and helped me become more confident in myself and my abilities. The experiences, friendships, and support I received throughout the program truly shaped who I am today and prepared me for my career.”

Hannah plans to begin working as a dental hygienist in the Raleigh-Durham area after graduation.

Hannah’s selection reflects her sustained excellence in the dental hygiene program, where she consistently demonstrates a strong commitment to academic achievement, patient-centered care, and professional integrity. She is recognized for her compassion and respectful approach to others, her reliability and professionalism in both classroom and clinical settings, and her organizational skills. We are proud to have her represent our department and division.
