Not every session has to be held together by what’s heavy. There’s also room for the parts of you that are steady, the parts that are rebuilding quietly, and the parts that are just learning how to exist without urgency.

Some weeks look like breakthroughs, some weeks look like small returns to yourself, and both count. Let your check-in include the full range of being human, not just what feels most pressing.

No one talks enough about the adjustment period that can come with good things.

A healthy relationship.
A supportive friendship.
A new opportunity.
A season of peace.

When you’ve spent years navigating disappointment, trauma, unpredictability, or survival, safety can feel unfamiliar. Support can feel suspicious. Peace can feel temporary.

Sometimes healing looks like learning that not everything good is waiting to be taken away.

It can take time to trust what you’ve been given.
It can take time to believe you deserve it.It can take time to stop waiting for the other shoe to drop.

If you’re in that space, be patient with yourself. Receiving can be its own part of the healing journey.

I’m a therapist and yoga instructor who regularly reminds people to listen to their bodies, honor their limits, and meet themselves where they are rather than forcing themselves to be where they think they should be!

Today, I had an opportunity to practice both.

For my last session of the day, I changed my environment to better support what my body needed. Not because I couldn’t push through, but because I’ve learned that “can” and “should” are not the same thing.

Honoring your body’s signals doesn’t always look dramatic. Sometimes it looks like making an adjustment before you reach the point of exhaustion.

Meeting your needs isn’t weakness, it’s a practice.

Therapy is a process. There will seldom be immediate answers to your questions. That does not mean your questions won’t be answered. It simply means healing and understanding take time.

As you begin therapy, come with that expectation in mind so you don’t set yourself up for disappointment. Growth happens gradually, and every session is part of the journey.

Especially in trauma work of any kind! Safety, trust, and healing are built over time. Some sessions may feel heavy, some may feel quiet, and some may leave you with more reflection than resolution. That is still progress.

During Mental Health Awareness Month, remember: showing up for yourself is already a powerful step toward healing.

What often gets labeled as “overthinking” or “shutting down” is really the nervous system trying to protect you in the only ways it knows how.

In my work, I support clients who experience a familiar cycle of staying alert, holding everything together, and then feeling emotionally disconnected when their system reaches capacity.

My work as a Holistic Trauma therapist is centered on helping you understand these patterns through the lens of the body, not just the mind.

Through Brainspotting, Somatic approaches, and nervous system-focused work, we co-create space for what words alone can’t always reach.

I’ve opened space to begin accepting new clients.

If you’ve been considering starting therapy, I offer free 15 minute consultations so we can connect, answer questions, and explore whether working together feels like a good fit.

I specialize in trauma therapy with adult women, supporting individuals navigating trauma, grief burnout, anxiety, depression and life transitions.

My approach integrates the mind, body, and spirit through a combination of evidence-based and holistic modalities, including Brainspotting, IFS-informed work, mindfulness, trauma-informed yoga, and other somatic practices.

This integrative work supports clients in processing trauma, regulating the nervous system, and building long-term emotional resilience in a way that is paced, collaborative, and rooted in safety.

After I shared the Original Salmon Stackers (aka my pescatarian lunchables), sent more….PLUS some smoked salmon fillets.

As someone who’s pescatarian, this was right on time!! Something quick I already enjoy eating as a snack between sessions, before teaching a class or hosting an events. It’s having the options to switch it up a little for me though!

I opened it and immediately knew what I was about to open first 😂 . Yes, I’ve already dug into the lemon & chives salmon stackers and they were good to me! I even made a quick little rice bowl with hot honey and honey smoked salmon. I’ll get into the cracked pepper soon lol

Thank you for thinking of me for making my belly happy yet again 🐟✨. I can assure you it’s been put to good use!

For those who want to try, you can find the Smoked Salmon Stackers aka adult lunchables at and .

Apparently the internet is circulating the idea that therapists shouldn’t be allowed to drink anything during session. And respectfully… I disagree.

I understand the concern if someone is distracted, disengaged, or clearly not present. Presence and attentiveness absolutely matter.

However if we’re talking water, coffee, tea, I see it differently. I often encourage my clients to have a drink or snack during session if that supports them, and many are apologetic about it when there’s no need to be because again we’re all human!

A drink does not equal unprofessionalism. Sometimes people confuse rigid professionalism with actual competence, and those are not the same thing.

Therapist, what’s your take?!
