The NCLBGC is continuing to modernize its systems to better serve North Carolina's licensed general contractors.

Recent updates include:
✔️ Licensees can now request an increase to an intermediate or unlimited license limitation directly through the online portal.
✔️ The complaint process is now fully paperless, with complaints submitted through the Board's website and notifications sent through the licensing portal instead of U.S. mail.

To ensure you receive important notifications, be sure your contact information is up to date in your licensing portal.

Did you know?

If you're applying for a contractor license in another state, you'll need to contact that state's licensing board for its specific reciprocity or examination waiver requirements.

Many states require a license verification from the North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors. To request a verification, email [email protected] with:

• Your name as it appears on the license
• Your license number
• The state requesting verification

If the other state requires a verification form, be sure to complete the licensee section before submitting it.

Please allow approximately two weeks for processing.

Before a license can be renewed, all qualifiers must verify their continued association with the license. This can be done from the "Renewal at a Glance" page, which is the first page you'll see when starting or continuing a renewal application.

There are three ways to verify employment:

✔️ Set as Owner: If the qualifier is the owner of the licensed entity, selecting this option will automatically complete their verification.

✔️ Quick Verify Email: Send the qualifier a verification email containing a link where they can confirm their employment with the licensee.

✔️ Qualifier Account: Qualifiers can log in to their account at www.ncclic.org, navigate to the renewal section, and verify their employment directly online.
