Fun Beneath the Sun (and Moon). 🔴

Threshold celebrated its second annual employee picnic at the Redner's Event Center last Friday. It was a great time with great food, despite the Reading Fightin Phils going down in a nail-biter. We even made it on the jumbotron! Our night together affirmed, yet again, that we're not a mere company; we're a family.

A Trusted Servant of our Commonwealth. 🔴

Our President and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Edward B. Michalik, was sworn in last Friday as a Member of the State Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators by the Honorable David L. Yoch, Magisterial District Judge (Court 23-2-04). Dr. Michalik was accompanied by his wife, Jennifer. Governor Josh Shapiro (Office of the Governor of Pennsylvania) nominated him, and he was confirmed by the Pennsylvania State Senate. The State Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators is responsible for overseeing and regulating nursing home administrators, while ensuring their conduct remains both professional and ethical.

This appointment reflects Dr. Michalik's absolute commitment to protecting the vulnerable, both at Threshold and beyond, and serves as a continuation of his lifelong passion for community and public service. He's truly a model citizen, not only of the great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, but of the United States, and someone we're grateful to call CEO.

What is Peer Support? 🔴

You've probably heard this term thrown around a lot in the context of mental health treatment. Peer Support is mentoring and guidance provided by someone with lived experience in mental health recovery to another individual living with serious mental illness. Here's what makes it so great: research across the board shows that peer support improves quality of life and reduces hospitalizations among individuals who receive the service (source below). Moreover, it provides tangible concrete proof that sustained recovery is possible. Our entire Peer Support department (pictured above) does selfless, crucial work. Thank you for being architects of hope!

Dignified Work. 🔴

This is Sabrina. She's worked at Giant in Exeter Township as a Health and Beauty Center Store Associate for over a year. Her path to competitive employment wasn't easy and, at times, left her feeling discouraged. Nevertheless, Sabrina persevered and, in collaboration with her Employment Specialists, overcame all the challenges in front of her.

Sabrina continues to receive support from her Employment Specialists and is frequently complimented by her supervisors for the quality of her work. She loves her job. It's become a source of considerable pride and happiness in her life. We're so proud of her!

Welcome Aboard, Emily! 🔴

Threshold is thrilled to announce a new addition to its mental health team - Emily Brown. She joins us fresh out of her MSW program at local Kutztown University, putting her on the cutting edge of care and treatment. "I took a psychology elective class in high school and immediately fell in love with it, majored in psych for undergrad and loved my internships and fieldwork, continued with social work for grad school to be able to do more and help more people, following my passion," Emily said, after being asked what motivated her interest in the human services field. Clearly, she'll be a great advocate for our amazing clubhouse members. We're thrilled to have you, Emily!
