Last Wednesday we joined the Readstown Volunteer Fire Department for a water rescue training, giving us the opportunity to exercise our command structure, and to think about all the additional resources that we would potentially need or have to call for, for both EMS and Fire, if something like this were to ever happen in our coverage area. Thank you RFD for the invite!!

Stay Cool the Next Couple Days! ☀️🌡️

With hot weather moving into our area again, take extra precautions to avoid heat-related illness.

Ways to Stay Cool:
• Drink plenty of water, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
• Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
• Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
• Avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day, typically (10 AM–4 PM).
• Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle—even for a few minutes.
• Use sunscreen and wear a hat if you’re outside.

Check on Others:
Please take a few minutes to check on:
• Elderly neighbors and family members
• Those without air conditioning
• People with chronic medical conditions
• Young children

Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Heat stroke is a medical emergency—call 911 immediately if someone becomes confused, loses consciousness, stops sweating, or has a high body temperature.

Stay safe, stay hydrated, and help look out for one another.

Public service announcement 📣.

Weather permitting the helicopter could be landing anywhere from 645-7pm this evening.

911 DISPATCHER DYLAN KRAUSE – 2026

As part of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, we would like you to meet 911 Dispatcher Dylan Krause. Dylan has been a full-time 911 dispatcher for the Sheriff’s Office since 2022 and had previously worked for La Crosse County Dispatch. Dylan is a very good 911 dispatcher and has good knowledge of what 911 dispatching is all about. Dylan’s extra duties include the processing of arrest warrants when they are received from the court, and the organization of protection/restraining orders that are ordered by the court. Dylan also handles the validation process of all entries into a national database such as stolen property, arrest warrants, protection orders, etc. He was also recently appointed to the Vernon County Combined Tactical Units as a Communications Officer. Dylan is also a fire fighter for the Readstown Fire Department and an EMT for Readstown Ambulance where he also serves as Assistant Service Director. Thank you, Dylan, for all you do for Vernon County and your community.
