🐇🐇 Don’t Forget to Say “Rabbit Rabbit” Tomorrow Morning!

September 1st is almost here — and according to an old folk tradition, saying “Rabbit Rabbit” as the very first words you speak on the first day of the month is supposed to bring good luck for the month ahead.

The exact origins are a little mysterious, but versions of the superstition have been passed down for generations in Britain and America.

So when you wake up tomorrow morning, before you say anything else…

Somewhere up in the oak right now, a bug the size of your thumb is making a sound you can hear two streets over. Most people call it a locust. The name has been wrong for four hundred years.

When colonists first heard periodical cicadas emerge by the millions, they reached for the only word they had, the locust plagues of Scripture. But a locust is a grasshopper. It swarms, it travels, it eats fields down to stubble. The dog-day cicada does none of it.

The one screaming in your trees this week spent years underground drinking root sap, then climbed out for a few loud weeks in the sun. Adults barely eat. They cannot bite you and cannot sting you.

That sound is not a warning. It is a countdown clock, and it runs out in September. 🌳

Look up TONIGHT! 🌕️ The Full Sturgeon Moon of August 2026 will peak in the early hours of Friday, August 28, marking the last Full Moon of summer.

The Full Moon of August is traditionally called the “Sturgeon Moon.” At one time, the lake sturgeon of the Great Lakes were quite abundant in late summer, though they are rarer today.

Traditionally, each Full Moon name was applied to the entire lunar month in which it occurred, not solely to the Full Moon.

Nursing is one of the most stressful professions globally, and Japan is no exception.
